anyone do it??? lol today at school i was just doin my own thing playing my guitar and singing for one of my friends, and i looked up and i had like 30 people standing around listening! It was just the most amazing thing and people started throwing money in my guitar case and I was baffled! haha it was so great! Anyone else do this on the streets or anything?
I did it in Harrisburg Pa. I'd wait until around lunch time - when everyone from the capitol would go for a bite, I'd play. I did pretty good too.
i was practicing my violin outside a hilton in georgia once... and some lady gave me 5 bucks... i was 10 years old
Never done it like that, but I did play my les paul unplugged last year... I got it a few weeks before and it was brand new and shiny and still had that Gibson mahogany scent to it... I started playing without an amp in my science class and then two or three other people with guitars stopped... and all of a sudden, I look up since it was silent and there was a crowd of people around me...
MonnJava, i've done a lot of busking over the past year. i've only gone into boston to play the subway twice and each time, i was lucky to make $30 in eight hours. this summer i quit my job and moved back home to MA. well, i moved into my car to be more precise. i refused to get a job for myself and was forced to play my guitar for food and gas money. all i did this summer was play for tips in my home town in every bar there is. it's a great and easy way to get yourself established to the point where people see you walking down the street and say "hey, it's that guitar guy!" go for it. busking is a great experience.
I reallyyyyyyyy want to try this... when I leave home, I'm going to do it... I've only done it once...
I used to do this during lunch when I was in high school, out in the courtyard with my acoustic... I'd usually make a few dollars each day. The best was on annual day though, I had a singer... it was great. Playing the blues and this guy was singing about how poor he was, with no money to buy a year book. He raised $112, bought a year book and gave me $30.
