Okay guys I've decided to grow. Yes I'm pretty much a total noob so bear with me. I need a couple questions answered. First one is what time of year should I start planting? Can I start in the next couple weeks or is it to late? Also how often do I have to tend to my outdoor green buddies? I want to plant out in the middle of fucking nowhere but I don't want to have to drive up to them everyday to take care of them. And can anyone recommend a website to order my seeds from? Thanks for the help! :cheers2:
It's too late, harvest is in autumn. You'll want to learn more about the plant to understand why. Read about the stages of the growing a plant: germination, seedling, vegetative, flowering, and harvest. If you do you will understand why, but basically the light schedule will be off if you start now. Vegging you want light/dark to be around 18/6. Flowering begins when the light schedule changes to 12/12.
Can I build like a small shed, So I can get light to them? And does the cold effect them if they have water and the HID lighting?
Better off doing some studying over the winter, get your shit together and come spring you will be ready.Unless the shed was heated,or at very least very well insulated the cold will probably stunt or otherwise damage your plants.
Grow Great Marijuana: An Uncomplicated Guide to Growing the World's Finest Cannabis by Logan Edwards Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible by Jorge Cervantes Two good books to start on.
building a shed and trying to grow in that during winter is not going to work. you'd have to install a heating system in there (expensive as hell), and then you are going to have to worry about a multitude of other things - electricity, humidity level, ventilation/airflow etc.. for a very first time grower... i would highly advise AGAINST trying to build (or buy) a shed, then worrying about getting a heating system and electricity in it and all the other shit you gotta do. not to mention, i highly doubt you have the resources and know-how to get that set up and running. do some research.. all winter. if you havent figured out that late September is way too late to plant cannabis (pretty much common-sense), then you just got a LOT of research to do. my advice man, is use legitimate books, magazines and maybe some DVD's. sure the internet can be great for grow information, but if your not absolutely confident in your ability to separate bogus/misinformed/irrelevant information from the legitimate and helpful information, then using the internet to find grow info will probably just confuse you- theres a TON out there, and everybodys got different setups/advice/techniques etc. sometimes cannabis magazines will have special issues that have beginner grow information, tutorials and tips front to back. some useful (and credible) magazines that you might want to pick up are High Times and Cannabis Culture. both have a section in every months issue that is devoted to cultivation expertise and advice and Q&A's etc. as mentioned above, jorge cervantes has some really good books and tutorial DVD's for the beginning grower, and the man is very highly respected in the field of cannabis cultivation. head to your local barnes & noble, borders, or whatever bookstores you have by you, and look around... i got my grow books from barnes and noble a couple years ago when i started my first grow, and they were immensely helpful and clear. put the research in now, and youll be glad you did in the spring when you are well prepared and ready to start your first garden. good luck
What I would like to see Is for people to actually research for themselves for once, rather than reading nothing and expecting others to do it for them. The only way your going to learn is to research yourself, when you have some genuine questions - then ask away. First one is what time of year should I start planting? - Is a silly question. I don't want to be offensive but you are wasting peoples time, these questions have already been answered if you merely look 2-3 threads down. I was new to growing two years ago. I learned from the advice of many people on this forum. However, rather than insulting them,I learned the basics first then asked. Like I said, Im not trying to be offensive here(I'm sure your understand In a couple of weeks when you know the INS and Outs) I've got his ultimate grow guide DVD (thats the name, not my opinion) and it is very informative. *Edit* I realise that In my tired - slighty stoned state I may have been alittle over the top. I hope you see my point and take my advice *Edit*
I totally agree, do some research until your confident, then experiment. This spring will be my second season of growing and I must say that im much more prepared than last year. I have already made plans for everything i need. A place to germinate and start the seeds, a super design for the beds, a watering system, all the materials i need ( most importantly some fast growing and potant seeds, i live in northern bc) All i need now is to wait and manifest it into action. Good luck and use you intuition and imagination Peace and Love, Don Cheeba
Best site I would recommend every single time - Sensi Seeds (why do you think they won the cannabis cup of the year -every year) They can be a little pricey, but Its worth that little more with the assurance that they will actually grow.. I recommend Early Skunk (they have a deal on feminized seeds atm) Anything from the Early section and your pretty much there (Anyone can grow them) Early Girl - Great begginer (anti mold, hardy, fast flowering) Early Pearl - Depends on your climate Early Misty - Thumbs up Early Bud - Thumbs up Early skunk - Great plant
i look at winter as time for us to grow out some of the new strains i want to try out and as time to get the males out of our genes he he he i like to be ready to get planting when the time is ripe he he he
if u are living with your parents 1st thing you need to is to get a job that enables you to live on your ownyou might save some time and just google your own questions. one thing some people dont understand is that you need to find which method works for you? Some people i know have been "growing their own for 30 or more years, yet they are looking at some factors to help them sex their plants,or to extend the harvest, good luck and let us know how your garden grows he he he
