I was not intending to offend anyone in writing this, but it may be offensive, so if you are extremely patriotic, i recommend that you do not read this. I am not anti american, i just think we should have more unity in this world. Inspiration for this poem came from Allen Ginsburg's "America".

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America..." Bullshit!
Why should i pladge my allegiance to a piece of cloth?
Well, it's more than just a piece of cloth, right?
    Doesn't it symbolize something bigger?
    Doesn't it symbolize a nation?
Fuck it, I don't care what it symbolizes.
Why am I expected to support an individual country?
Why can't i support the world as one?
Why can't we do away with nations and live in a world state?
Why can't we make John Lennon's dream a reality?
Why can't we just share knowledge and resources?
Wouldn't that mean we won't have to compete with China and India for the lead in the modern world?
Wouldn't that mean we won't have to go to war over resoures and borders?
Wouldn't that mean we'd be able to get along?
I don't know, maybe I'm dumb' maybe I'm overlooking something, maybe this isn't practical.
But...maybe I'm right, maybe we could live as one.
