dairy free, soy free, wheat free, added sugar free, peanut and cashew free, processed foods free, whole grained and rather bland...but thats an effort thing. I'm allowed to eat fish and some lamb...but i do not. I think it's working, the 2L of water a day certainly helps my kidneys flow...which are kind of weak, also my irratible bowel syndrome has calmed right down, as has reflux.
What really subdued my IBS was cutting out fruit. You don't really need all that sugar in your diet anyway. RAw veggies also had to be greatly reduced. As for the blandness your taste buds will adjust and you will discover the hidden flavor of unprocessed natural foods. You don't need to compensate for perceived lack of flavor by adding salt. Be sure you use lots of beans with the whole grains for protein balance. If you make any kind of bread (I make one with brown rice, millet, barley and rye flours and water only that's fantastic) be sure you get an electric grain mill because it makes a huge difference in the taste and nutritional values by grinding your own flour freshly.
Wow. I don't think I could ever do that. I'm so set in my bad eating habits. Props to you for such discipline.
that is intense control there mate, im glad you've found relief. I've recently started to adopt probiotic foods, at first it was sauerkraut, now im growing some water kefir...although the mother was in pretty bad shape im hoping after a few generous cycles she picks back up. My next goal is a source of raw milk, preferably goat but i think dairy will be fine. I'd definitly try to make some fresh cheeses with that...mozzarella and feta are pretty easy to do. Yeah I listened to your advice on sugar, cut down fruit a bit...more concentrating on getting enough fibre now. It helps a bit, im worried about becoming overly sensitive if i limit my diet too much so I defintly want to push the probiotic thing. Do you have any luck with yoghurts?
If you just fallow the rules of not eating processed stuff i don't understand why you gottah stay away from nuts or wheat. Just get the biggest variety of stuff thats organic, raw and nutritious.
Your diet sounds pretty good in terms of avoiding unhealthy things but that's only half of the battle. Everyone should systematically and methodically go through the entire list of essential nutrients and determine if they're getting enough of them or not. For example, you've cut out dairy and soy, which is good as those are garbage, but how are you getting your daily calcium requirement until you find a source of raw milk? I don't eat those either so I get 900 mg from elemental citrate, 200mg from chia seeds, 200mg from whey powder, 400mg 3 times a week from fish bones, and probably about 200mg a day from vegetables. There's plenty of options for people who want to be free of dairy and soy but please make sure you're getting enough calcium and all vitamins and minerals in general.
I agree that a balanced 'organic' diet is a spot on approach for the majority of situations, but it can contine to introduce 'allergens' or irratents into ones system when it is not ready for them. I was advised to remove specific things from my diet, and dispite what people believe soy is quite allergenic Ok well wrt to vit, minerals etc i take, some of these were advised to me by a naturopath who measured my nutrient requirements multi mineral - a reputed brand for this country B complex - vegan based tyrosine - helps with stress ioderal fish oil - straight fish oil, not capsules and roughly 10-20mL per day DMG - dimethylglycine, immuno stimulant that does wonders for allergies and energy
I'm a bit confused as to what the purpose of this diet is; you didn't really make it clear what the purpose of it is so I just assumed it was for optimal health.
Took the words out of my mouth. Anyways, just for a healthy diets, it's not brian surgery. You seem like you are on the right path, although you may have over thought it a little. It's a good thing it has helped with the odd medical condition, but you will never keep it up unless you actually enjoy the foods you eat! I eat mostly eggs, whole grain pasta, vegetable lasagna, porridge and soups etc. I do eat very seldom a piece of meat, but I am a vegetarian (sports vitality however). Point is, I will always sneak in a bit of chocolate, I mean what's the point in living otherwise? We all have our vices, and I find my occasional 'vice' keeps me motivated to still eat right. You realise you can never eat anything like that in any large degree again. Your diet needs to be fun. Food is my life, personally.
^^exactly. Eat whatever your body tells you to eat, if you pay attention you can feel what food you really want.
lol that almost is the same argument to naturalistic knowledge of Jesus. my diet is because of allergies. I know the word diet means just what you eat (and won't eat) but in general it has specific uses, this one is to detox of sorts
