Let me first say that I love drugs. I was first introduced to opiates when in high school. A painkiller here and a painkiller there, just for fun. Then I had my wisdom teeth removed and was prescribed Oxycontin. To say the least, while my prescription lasted I had a blast. The pills got eaten like candy and my script dwindled at an alarming rate. After several weeks I had my first run in with withdrawals and as the pain came to an end, I decided never to get heavily involved with opiates again.

Fast forward a couple years, I've probably taken three pills over the course of four years, and I get a call out of the blue from a girl I've known for years, was on and off with her. We start talking and then she hits me with the bad news, she's been addicted to Oxycontin for two and a half years and it's really taken a toll on her. She told me she wanted someone to hang out with and talk to, so I head to my old town and spend the week with her lounging on the beach smoking bud. At the end of the week, she seems to be doing a lot better, her daily consumption of blues is down from 180 mg/day to 15-20 mg/day, her depression is gone, and she's feeling happy about the outlook of her life. What did I get out of the week? I got to see the effects of opiates on my close friend and the people I went to high school with. Some are robbing for their next fix and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some prostitution involved in the mix.

So now, whenever I hear "pain pills" or "heroin" my stomach sinks. Only because I've seen the sheer damage that it causes people. As of now, I know a few users of heroin (smack, not the pills) and I often wonder what the first high is like. Heroin though, remains on a list of drugs that I will never dabble with again.

I understand that opiates and their many forms are extremely enjoyable. I also understand that people saying "Blah blah blah, drugs are bad, mkay?" are REALLY fucking annoying. However, I urge those that use Heroin and it's many forms in a recreational manner to take a step back and see the possible outcome of their weekend warrior usage.

You can get the rest from around youtube.

I'm not one to tell people how to live their lives, but please, to all of you that are "just dabbling." Please, be careful. Your soul is worth more then your next hit.

' be careful' is perhaps the most meaningless, but well-meaning advice in the drug world. Whenever people tell me that, I appreciate the sentiment. But I'm a big boy now and I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do. My bro, who smokes H occasionally, far less than me, and actually *knows* what I'm like, so can judge my character and his advice to me accordingly, gave me the best advice, that rings in my ears:

"Just get bored of it quickly, man."

Wise advice made wiser because he knows who I am, what I'm like.

This 'be careful' business? It doesn't work. But thank you anyway.

(And I really dont mean this post to seem offensive. I hope ya get me.)

the problem is no one listens to advise, they only wish they did after theyre lives are ruined. Well, most people. Everyone i know anyhow.

I understand and I agree. The only reason I say 'be careful' is because I'm not going to say 'don't do it.'

The advice your bro gave you is actually quite good. Much better than my 'be careful' lol.

Life story of all my friends. Including the dead ones.
