World Population Reduction

well really different circumstances then those intended by the intrests mentioned in the op will prevail. the global climate change reality will be a major factor. most population reduction will be by attrition. that is to say lower birthrates rather then higher death rates. but mutating disease factors do to global climate change will also be a factor. that and famine are nature's way when the population of one or several species gets out of balance with the rest of their eco-system. medical research shifts that balance for humans. for now. but nature can mutate faster then cures can be devised. other factors involving the colapse of many of the ways we're doing things now, again do to environmental reason resaulting from these long term shifts in weather patterns, that sort of thing.

it's not going to happen all at once. even if it were attempted that way, there are other problems, in addition to moral ones, which tend (over time, and relatively short time at that) to counter balance and negate the effect of more draconian methods.

You really ought to learn about these things before making such uninformed, outlandish statements.

The Gates Foundation has nothing to do with deciding anything of the sort. Among other things, it makes grants to government agencies involved in developing and distributing contraceptives, the point being to alleviate human suffering due to over-population and the resulting starvation and lack of quality of life.

It also makes grants to study improved ways of growing food and reducing losses to drought and insects ... better ways to administer health care in remote areas, making more efficient use of medical personnel and equipment, reducing spoilage of vaccines, and a huge list of other things.

Would your prefer more starving, suffering children on the planet? How about more infectious disease? How about more crop failures?

The Gates Foundation does more to reduce suffering in the world than most of the earth's governments combined. I might also add that the Foundation's Board of Directors works with agencies around the world to decide how best to make the grants. It's not an issue of "elites".

And may I ask what you do to achieve anything good in the world?

 

All well and good, but you have to admit that type of research, access, and information could just as easily be used to surreptitiously depopulate third world nations in a clandestine attempt to eliminate certain genotypes

you know the most deadly viruses always seem to spring out from the most ecologically damaged parts of the world. Ebola, Marburg, AIDS and Nameless Sao Paulo just to name a few. also look at the swine flu. this thing came out of nowhere and has killed thousands of people thus far and is sure to claim many more. humans, just as animals, will eventually become nervous, stressed and less driven to reproduce under overpopulated conditions.

yep your right .. I post things like "wingnutty" conspiracy theorys for a reason - as it seems a large portion of society is "wingnutty" but then again .. a large portion of society is on the otherside who are fundemental narrowminded "the popular media is my jesus" types.

what most people fail to realize is that both these types of people are on the different sides of the same coin.

I post these "wingnutty" things as nobody else does ... and also to really expose people who are fundementally closed off to any opposition to what the popular media is telling them.

The thing with me is that I have came to accept both sides .. the popular media and the conspiracy theorists and therefore I can see both sides ...

the truth is .. unless you have seen something with your own eyes... e.g lets take a guy who shot up some people in a mexican subway ...

how do you know it actually happened the way the media is telling you? how do you know it happened at all? do you trust this authority with your state of being/emotions? this goes for both the conspiracy theorists and also the popular media believers ... why do these people trust their sources? both the sources of the conspiracy theory media and the normal media are making big bucks from making you believe what they are saying .. and taking control of your intelligence and emotions and your wallet.

if someone can sell you the idea alone without taking money from you ... then they made a great deal! fuck money! if someone can implant ideas into your head(popular or non-popular) they are making a killing! they are controlling you ...

so yeah .. to sum up .. i don't actually believe the conspiracy theorists or the popular media .. but atleast I can say I can put myself into both mindsets and see both sides .. some people in this forum actually think that what they are saying is the true side ... they are unwilling to see things from another perspective.

I guess my question is .. what makes everyone believe their sources? and Im not just asking about sources like TV; internet; person to person; newspaper ... what makes them believe their eyes; ears; touch and taste? why do you even believe your own mind in what its telling you?

I thought a devils advocate invoked a more emotional response from people by any means .. not just from a defensible position ... you can become a devils advocate by simply accepting a idea and telling them how great they are .. but actually believing it and therefore making the other party believe it ... that is a real devils advocate.

I think what you are describing is really just the opposition to a story .. nothing to do with a devils advocate.
