in the us constitution, it says all men are created equal...well, obviously some people dont understand exactly wat that means...wen i was in high school, i used to be pissed as hell about how my rights were violated day in and day out...i was, and still, for the most part, am a human being, and i deserve as much right to freedom of choice as any other person...how dare the government, and society in general, force their beliefs on u guys, and where do they get the right to tell u wat u can and cannot wear, whether u should have to piss in a cup, or that u have to sit in a class all day and be brainwashed...its fucking rediculous, and there needs to b a change...i swore i wouldnt give this issue up after i turned 18 and became a citizen, because u guys r citizens to, and deserve all the rights i have...even if my rights r dwindling as well
I don't exactly agree with everything public schools push on people or government for that matter, but you really aren't considered an "equal man" until you are 18 for a reason. There are certain decisions children/teenagers are not qualified to make.
wat decisions? i think kids r immensley more capable of processing information and learning than we r, there brains r designed for it...
u said there is a reason kids r not considered equal, well at least lets hear wat that reason is...i mean, blacks r'nt equal to whites u know, theres a reason for that, and gays should never be allowed to get married theres tottaly a reason for that, o and women definatley shouldnt b allowed to vote or get paid as much as men, theres a very good reason for that
The reason for all that is fear. Humans are most insecure and terrified critters. And we all know that when somebodys scared they have a way of doin' stupid things. Humans are naturally a violent and spoiled bunch too. Just look at how a group of little kids plays together unsupervised... "All men created equal" is really a great utopian fantasy for those who wish it were so...
You want all the benefits of being treated as an adult but do you want the negatives and all the responsibilities too? Because you're a fool if you think there aren't any....or at bare minimal niave.
choice is a responsibility, and for those that dont want choice, then they dont have to feel responsible, that can happen from age 12 to age 62...i never denied responsibility in any of my statements, i think kids deserve more responsibility if they choose it ps - ure comment sounds to me if ure calling me, a) not and adult, and b) a person without responsiblity..well i have both responsiblity and am an adult by the governments standards...of course in my experiences, i have found the greatest responsiblities, not in owning a home and having to pay bills, but in my responsibility as a human being to make this a better world for all of our brothers and sisters living in it
it is unnetuorel fur us tu leefe zee vey ve-a ire-a leefing tudey, yet ve cuntinuoe tu vunder vhut is vrung vit us?
and earthmother, i agree with u completely, but i think children are as capable of fear and hate and violence as adults, perhaps less so because theyve been less absorbed into the culture of it...a utopian society may b mere fantasy, but i want to do everything within my power to make it a reality
No one is created equal. Life is the ultimate uneven playing field where each individual has his or her own inherent advantages and disadvantages, The thing is to play the hand you've been dealt the best you can and not waste energy whining about something you have no hope of changing.
Sometimes young kids have more sense than adults. Dadaism (a form of art) was inspired by the simpleness and innocence of children. I'm not really thinking right now... sorry if that was completely random, just though i would add something to the conversation... haha
The trouble is all along you are being influenced by stuff you have no idea about. What everyone else really thinks of you is stuff they pretty much never say to your face and thus you never realy get an idea. Its the unspoken discrimination that you really have to look out for. In terms of age discrimination, some 50 year olds can look 60, some can look 40 Some 18 year olds can look 23, some can look 15
I never got why people through around harsh claims such as the government and public school system brainwashing us... In school we are learning so we can be more in tune with the world and society. True, some classes seem to eliminate things (such as the truth to what the whites did to the Natives), but is it really nessecary to dub it "brainwashing"? The only thing that pisses me off about public schools is their decision to not teach the Constitution. That, in turn, gives them control...
ah the whinings of youth! your misspelled (which i hope is deliberate) teen age angst rant harkens me back to those days of pimples, being "under the roof" of my parent's, my will limited by the numbers of years i had lived since i was born. i too, knew everything already. i was at least as mature as any of the stupid adults whose goal in life, it seemed, was to thwart my every effort to be free to do all the stuff i knew i was entitled to do. who in the hell did they think they were telling me what to do and when to do it?! who needs fucking school? school sucks and all my teachers are idiots. i don't need all that crap they're shoveling into my ear. i'll figure it out as i go along. i'm just that damn smart. and well, mostly i was right. i didn't need a lot of the crap that they shoveled in my ear and i did figure it out as i went along. and maybe i found out i wasn't exactly as smart as i thought i was but pretty damn close. now i'm one of those stupid grown ups. the other day i looked into the face of my friend's teen age daughter and there i saw the same smug "I know it all already" contempt for adults expression in her eyes that used to sit so grandly self righteous in my own eyes when i was her age. i had offered her my friendship but she doesn't want to be friends with me (though i could be a good and useful friend to have). i'm just a stupid grown up, you see and only her little teen friends can understand what she's going through. i am, for all intents and purposes, the enemy ... because of my age. only that. i'm too old to be her friend. in the light of that fact you can take your teen angst filled whining about "age discrimination" and shove it all up your snotty nose. you brats discriminate against us "old people" too. but don't you worry, kiddo. you'll get your turn. one day you'll look into the face of some self righteously resentful adolescent brat and see your teen self glaring contemptuously back at you. maybe you'll remember starting this thread and reading these words. then you'll laugh. in the meantime ... tough beans. just like everyone else you have to wait.
