two reasons: 1/ It gives you or perhaps others sanctuary so you are not affronted by it. Such that one does not talk about homosexuality in the anti-homo section, when all know that ego will fight ego forever and ever, without displacing it. 2/ The christians are quite defenseless so yes together they can defend themselves easier within such sanctuary. The question surfaces. So then why do you come to anothers sanctuary to pick on those who are already defenseless. The christians are the sheep. Many of them pharasees and saducees, stupid and lame. Not a lion or cat. Dog or snake. They are a lost flock still following, but without any reason to stand up the battle of wits, because christlike teachings are beyond words of many, when stood against the many words and utterings of science today. But I have the words and the wits to beat you or anyone who doubts Christ, if anyone wishes to do battle with me. And I do not need a sanctuary, or anyone but myself.
You haven't read the thread have you? Admit it. You haven't. Almost everyone has said the complete opposite to you. And thank you for the stereotypical name-calling, that was much appreciated. But here's what I don't get, you clearly have a problem with Christians but you believe in Christ and can "beat you or anyone who doubts Christ"? A person who believes in Christ is a Christian, so you yourself are a sheep, a Pharisee, a Sadducee, stupid, lame, part of a "lost flock", and unable to stand up to battle of wits? After all, that is what you brand a Christian so if you are a Christian, surely you are those things too?
I don't care what anyone else has said, I say what I say, according to my heart, in response to a question. Others say what they say, what have I to do with them? I only speak the truth. Christians these days are not so far below the Jews of time past. Generalising is useful, so long as we realise there are exceptions, and reward where reward is due. Maybe you are one of those, maybe you are not. I am hoping a hippie forum may be more fruitful. As for everyone else, when Jesus comes, they will deny him, Christian or not. For to believe in Jesus, is to live in light, but if you have done evil deeds, your evil deeds will not allow you to believe in him, out of fear of those deeds being known to your spirit. God brings people to Jesus. Not to his word. I like your response. I like that you challenge me. Christians do not believe in the Word. They follow a namesake, a figurehead past, a task of mind, that by enshrouding themselves in the Word, yet often blind to it they believe in their own safety. As if they were Jesus, as if Jesus were their own creation, to fit into their own ways and doings. To attend church. Yet unattend the true church, to pray in mind, yet not in spirit, to love in mind, but not in kind. I am very wary of Christians. I avoid them mostly, as they shout belief, but do not Believe, do not live in faith, in heart. The vehicle of Christ has many passengers. Most of the good ones have been thrown off. What is left on the wagon, is naysayers, loudmouths, hypocrites, and power merchants. This is the 'church' Jesus has to come back to. And he will not come back to it. He will avoid it entirely. I am not a Christian as such. As that name brings puke into most people mouths. The name is spoiled. Jesus name has been tarnished. Christians huddle together, yet huddle with evildoers as much as the evildoers who are not Christian. It is a disaster. I am terribly ashamed of it. Note to self: Do not build churches on rocks, remember that other parable, hmmm...yes where the roots do not grow Nah just kidding - the church woulda fukked up wherever , whoever built it. Who is going to make Christianity a name worth breathing again? You? When you do, let me know, and I will call myself a Christian. Until then, I will call myself I AM
No, you're really just pointing out all the Christians you don't like, the vocal minority and lumping all of Christianity into that together.
when you cast fire over the wood, the beetles and spiders all come out, those with wings can fly and not get burnt. I have met many many people, travelled many many roads. I have not met one Christian who would believe in jesus, yet. But I have met many 'gentiles' who would. I put you, you and you in that wood. For I have no reason or inclination from anyone to do otherwise. If you got wings friend, fly out my fire, and tell me why you do not deserve to be in it. Don't judge the man who puts you in the fire, by sake of prejudice. For on the sake of prejudice, you have already been judged. If you believe in jesus, you would know him, you would listen to him, you would feel him, and you would not be sitting in a dark crevace in the woods....but shouting his name that he is here
But I'm stumped. No "Christians" who believe in Jesus? What? I used to dislike the term "Christian" as much as you. But that's changed now. I don't see myself as part of any Christian religion, nor do I really want to be, I'd rather listen to the word of God than the word of man and tradition. What makes it an "evil" is the people who call themselves a Christian but commit the most unbiblical sins, it hardly makes them one at all. But it also takes a pretty small person to disregard a rose for the thorns. And I don't care, let people hate me and shower me with prejudiced thoughts. I can stand tall for my faith. And unlike you, I believe in Christ but I have the courage to acknowledge it and call myself a Christian no matter what people might say to me. And you are wrong to say all Christians are the same. I don't attend church. I don't say ritualistic prayers. I believe in the Word of the Lord and I am proud of it. You could say the same for all religions. The Muslim who half-heartedly attends Mosque, the Jew who is only going to synagogue because he feels he has to but not that he wants to. Every faith has these type of people that follow tradition blindly in the hope it leads to their success after death, so why do you only see that in Christianity?
Well, I guess the reason you were critiques for your response to the OP was that it isn't really an open ended question, it was something that did happen and that we can say for sure why it did happen. It was in response to Skip's ban on Bible quotes in an attempt to stop mindless posts. Note to your note: Jesus built his Church on the Rock Peter.
Whereas I attend Mass weekly (sometimes more). I say devotionals and prayers that have been said for centuries. I believe in the Word of the Lord and proud of it too.
I'm comforted by Jesus saying that in the last days there would two groups that will say that they are Jesus' followers and to one group he will say; yes, you are but to the other group he will say; get away from me you workers of lawlessness, I never knew you. (Matthew 7:21-23)
It's nice of you to go out of your way to be offensive and generalizing for shock value (for your own entertainment or to enhance your point, I'm not sure). I'm a biomedical major. I believe in evolution. I'm also a Christian. Fucking deal. Did you know there is a similar forum for vegetarians on this site? Some for discussion and then one little one out of the way for those who just want to discuss things within their belief system and don't need a million hecklers bothering them incessantly in inconsiderately when they are in crisis or are seeking guidance within their belief system? Why is it so threatening to you? Seriously, why do you care? I don't buy that you're crying about it being unfair. I don't think you really feel all that underprivileged on a message board of all things. Rather, you're more upset that Christianity exists and that we're all boneheads for believing such rubbish and no one should respect us enough to give us a space where we won't be endlessly harassed. Honestly, can't you just live and let live? Do you have to destroy things that make others you don't agree with happy to make yourself feel better?
Can we bring this crazy thread to a close? As Ukr-Cdn correctly pointed out, the Sanctuary wasn't created by Christians, or to accommodate Christians. It was created to accommodate non-Christians, by limiting proselytizing and Bible quoting. This isn't an issue for debate. It's a fact. If you want to get into whether or not there should be a Sanctuary, take it up with Skip.
If you believed in Christ you would believe in me. But my words are lost on you and everyone else. Much of what you say I say, I never said, and much of what you presume I do not consider, I already consider. Don't be proud of anything, even God. Why do I focus on Christianity? Why did Jesus focus on the Jews? Bad habits die hard.
Don't be comforted in that please. Fear it. You will be very surprised at which vine is picked. You will be looked in the eye. Your heart read. That is all. Christian, muslim, label this, label that. This is what will happen.
Jesus was not "focussed" on the Jews. He WAS a Jew, and probably a very high up Jew at that. This is based on that he was allowed to preach in the synagogue, and he would have had to have been a respectable Jew to be able it. And what reason do I have to believe in you?
Jesus was "focused" on the "lost sheep of the house of Israel" as Matthew 15:24 points out but now the focus is on all of mankind.
Such a woman question. When I speak to you, I speak to you, as when the wind touches you, it touches you.
