    HARRY'S HARVEST BALL

OCTOBER 2-4, HARRY BROWN'S FARM, STARKS, ME

Proceeds will help fund Maine Citizens for Patients' Rights and the Maine Marijuana Policy Initiative in their efforts to pass a ballot initiative this November to improve Maine's medical marijuana law.

A THREE DAY FESTIVAL OF FREEDOM FEATURING:

    * Mystic Vibes -- Maine's best original roots reggae. Dequhn Lobutua expresses his original lyrics with a passion gained through a life based in the spirituality of Rastafari backed by a tight and well balanced band.
    * Okbari -- Okbari performs Ottoman classical and Turkish contemporary art music along with works from the Armenian and Anatolian folk traditions. Okbari also presents Arabic folk and classical music as well traditional songs from Greece and the Balkans. Okbari has released five albums since they formed in 1995, and play widely throughout the Northeast.
    * Barefoot Truth -- A contemporary spin on the ancient magic of Middle Eastern dance.
    * Bearquarium -- Deep percussive grooves, piercing organ, heavy horn lines, and soul inspired vocals, come together to create a dangerously funky sound guaraneed to make you move!
    * Zili Misik -- Zili Misik has been bridging cultures, generations, and continents for seven years. With captivating sounds that evoke the African continent, Zili retraces routes of forced exile and cultural resistance through rhythm and song.
    * Raising the Sun -- Blend Folk, Blues, Jazz, Rock, & Funk with a Little THC and LSD. You get the long Mind-bending jams and Psychedelic over-tones of Raising the Sun.
    * Black Bear Moon -- Black Bear Moon brings the infectious rhythms of traditional West African music to New England. Having studied with masters in Guinea and Ghana, West Africa, the Ensemble skillfully works instruments like the djembe, sangban, dununba, and kenkeni drums, as well as the African flute (also known as the Fula flute), the aslatua (a cool little percussion instrument from Ghana), the krin (log drum), and more!
    * Annie Lynch and the Beekepers -- Hauntingly beautiful vocals, exquisite melodies, a deep resonant cello, and that high lonesome bluegrass sound combine to create acoustic magic on the hill.
    * The Brew -- The Brew, an innovative quartet that has developed a large and devoted following with their infectious grooves rooted in classic rock and seasoned with prog, jazz, reggae, world beat, indie, funk and orchestral pop influences.
    * Gong the Planet -- A sound healing experience not to be missed --- Tibetan singing bowls and Planetary Gongs create a tunnel of sound that brings your whole body into harmony.
    * Da Butcha Shoppe -- Where poetry, stand-up, and burlesque meet, you will find Da Butcha/
    * Buddzilla -- Experience the monstrous talent of Budzilla, offspring of a Jamaican Rastafarian mother and a giant marijuana plant father. In his spare time he draws, reads, smokes pot, and steals women from other men. All while playing bass, 12 string guitar, and/or drums.
    * Trash Into Art, a community collective founded by multi-media performance artist Rijah Newll that uses giant puppets in energetic street theater pieces that promote environmental awareness.
    * One World Puppetry -- One World Puppetry brings mystical creatures to life to enchant people of all ages.
    * Dead Man's Hand -- Keenan Haley, Kasia Kasimire, Zach Nugent, Jason Twigg-Smith and John Wakefield all come from different musical backgrounds, but as a unit, unite to honor and keep the sound of the Grateful Dead alive. DMH is headed to Maine for the first time and are excited to kick into gear a bit of heady music and support Harry's mission!
    * RESISTDANCE -- RESISTDANCE is a dance troupe whose original performances help us connect with our history, our hopes, our collective responsibility, our pain, our joy, and challenges us to create something different in a world that stands on the brink.
    * STARMA CIRCUS -- STARMA Circus is a troupe of clowns, jugglers, and acrobats bringing circus arts to the stage and beyond.
    * Lazzlo -- Lazzlo is an eclectic mix of Americana, funk, blues, bluegrass, and tinges of country. Wherever Lazzlo goes a party is sure to be close behind. When this group of musicians get together its always a celebration of life and truth. There is no greater feeling than when many hearts come together to proclaim one sound or make one voice.
    * Rabbit -- Graffiti art on human canvases.
    * Jordan Kaulbach -- Jordan Kaulbach grew up in Waterford Maine climbing mountains and fishing Bear pond. Music sort of runs through the family, everyone enjoys a good jam. One day he was playing guitar in a field when his friend Cosmo pointed out that a pack of deer were listening to him. Sure enough down the hill a little ways was a few deer grazing listening to him jam. He figured that if deer would listen to what he has to play then people probably would too.
    * The Stoned Mountain Boyz --The Stoned Mountain Boyz emerged from the back hills of Western Maine almost a year ago, after spending the first half of their lives working on their family's distillery and running moonshine throughout Maine to support the Zapatistas and the IRA. Nowadays they spend their time playing music, changing diapers, and calling for war crimes charges to be brought against the Clinton, Bush, and Obama Administrations. The band plays mostly original tunes that have been inspired by their admiration for diverse musicians ranging from Woody Guthrie to John Coltrane, Rage Against the Machine, Grateful Dead, Bill Monroe, Curtis Mayfield, as well as the voices in their heads.
    * The Grasshopper Collective -- The Grasshopper Collective spins, breathes, and dances with fire!
    * Chill Breeze -- Guitar and vocals crisp as an October wind.
    * The Scallywags -- The Scallywags be a rovin' band of pirates, Singing songs of ghost ships and revolutionaries, clearin' the name of many the misrepresented Pirate. With stories, shanties, dances and a healthy swig o' rum, they'll take ya scurvy dogs on a trip to the high seas. From Punk to Spanish, Rock to Celtic, Theirrrrr music spans time and spins the world! They belong to a caravan of nomadic dancers from belly to burlesque to downright bizarre (and beautiful) barefoot wenches. and for the right treasure chest they may show thee where we keep they fire breathers and aeriel dancers!
    * The Green Man Medicine Show -- Ancestral wisdom meets beat poetry, chaos magick, and old time preaching backed by African drumming in a performance that aligns body, mind, and spirit with the heartbeat of the living Earth.
    * The Boston Hoop Troop -- The Boston Hoop Troop is a collective of talented Hoop Dancers, Performers, and Teachers. They are known throughout the hooping community for their fun, playful, and energetic style and presence.

What's the turnout been like? Haven't made it to any at the hill this year - but I'm planning on this one. Harmony has sucked, I didn't even bother going to Hempstock but maybe it was good.

go to harvest fest, they have been doing it for 19 years, I think the turnout will be less than fantastic at the Harvest Ball due to the loyalty of the crowd who attend the Maine Vocals event (Harvest fest) The Harvest Ball is scheduled on the same days as the original Maine Vocals Harvest Fest, I think they are competing, IMHO though its no contests I will go to Harvest Fest every year. However I hear that cowpasture productions (harvest ball folk) do a really good show

    Harvest Fest

FWI these are 1 county apart, but relatively in the same area

Big Rhythm Wine is what keeps me attending.. The vibes were as bad as the fucking music was, some people were so burnt and combative (and drunk). Man, back at the hill I felt comfortable wandering around all day/nite with a headful but I would not have tripped at Peace Jam, only hit up one at Harmony after that.

And yeah the competition between the two hosts and setting dates the same is BS.
