Devo by far. Both were great, really talented (Oingo Boingo probably moreso) bands, with a right on message, but I enjoy Devo a lot more. I hear they're new album is almost out btw. First one in almost 20 years! I always get shit for having devo stickers on my guitars and saying they're one of my all time favorites, but people never realize they played music before or after whip it...which is one of their worst songs from that period.
I agree with ya. I've always liked devo,they had a sound and style all their own.To get a good idea of what they were about,pick up their are we not men?we are devo..just great stuff
I prefer devo their satisfaction cover was awesome. Oingo also holds a spot in my heart they wrote a lot more songs than devo. what a great question both of these bands were original and had boundless energy. For me it is super close Devo by a hair. Danny Elfman is a genius and composes music for movies and the simpsons now oingo was just his start.
Oingo Boingo is for sure my pick over the two, Devo to me never seemed to catch the energy in that time and never caught with what was going on around them, and were more concerned with how they presented themselves, Devo was like punk a.k.a new wave hit with a synthesizer. Oingo Boingo is just non stop diversity that expands way farther into the horizons in which Devo couldn't have dreamed of reaching. If you ask me there a one hit wonder but for real not likes of people like Iron Butterfly.
