if i get precribed 20 mg oxycodone, do i have to ask the pharmacist to give me the purdue brand, not the generics? because i want the name brand, not generics. does the dr. have to write "oxycontin" on the script or if he just writes 20mg oxycodone , can i request oxycontin(the name brand purdue) from the pharmacy? thanks in advance for any input guys
Whether or not you get the actual name brand depends on your insurance and the individual pharmacy. Most substitute generics for the name brand.
if they carry generic your insurance will only pay for generic, if you want name brand you can ask for them but your insurance might not cover them because generics are available. go to a pharmacy that dosen't carry generic
anyone know of any pharmacys in orange county/los angeles area that i can get name brand ? or is that a question for the dr? also do you guys know if blue cross ppo insurance covers the name brand?
dude all you have to do is call a pharmacy and ask if they carry generics, when you find one that dosen't, then go there, Its not rocket science there bud, pretty simple. by the way how old are. you might not even get them if your young, so i wouldn't count on it
im 21, but my podiatrist has been giving me vicodin, norcos, perc 5 and perc 10 all in the last 3 months.i believe my pain condition is pretty legit
ive tried both generic oxy and oxycontin. generics suck! If I am going to get precribed oxy, I want the real thing. ok so for example: say im prescribed 20mg purdue brand oxy, anyone know how much each pill would cost at the pharmacy? i have insurance...can anyone give me a price approximation? thanks guys
it don't matter whether you have name brand or generic. IT'S THE EXACT SAME MEDICATION. (unless your planning to sell them it wont matter at all)
its not the exact same medication! ive done my research. generics put in less oxycodone than the purdue name brand does. generics by law can put in 80-120% of the active ingredient(oxycodone) in their meds. But what generic company would put in more than 100% of oxycodone?? ya know? it would cost more money for them to put over 100% of the active ingredient, so of course they will only put the minium amount of oxycodone that they have to. while purdue puts 100% of the active ingredient. this is the reason i want to get the purdue brand
dude u sound like a douche especially when ppl give u good advice and u keep asking the same damn question over and over again. get a life and get off drugs not because i dont like drugs just that i think your dumb enough all on your own
the generics are allowed to, by law, to put in less mg's than the name brand. so generics, especially when it comes to oxycodone generics vs. oxycontin , ususally, if not always have less mg of oxy in them. by law, generics only have to put 80% of active ingredient in their pill. thats why the generics are less expensive. oh and by the way, the pain doc gave me 120 perc 10's and 10 of the 50mcg fentanyl patches.
I have heard that actual mg of medicine fluctuates a lot more when it comes to generics. Their testing procedures are less strict - so with a 10mg valium, for example, if it ends up having like 8.3 mg, or 10.9 mg when they screen their sample, an Indian company would toss it. Whereas Roche or whoever will be stricter, it may have to be within .05. that said, i aint a pharmacy
ya i was just clarifying for this guy who put in BOLD LETTERING, thats " IT'S THE EXACT SAME MEDICATION" that while its the same ingredient, the amount of the ingredient between brands of pills can vary.
