hey, does anyone live in nimbin? im planning to move there...does anyone know what job would i have to have?
hey man i don't live in nimbin but i've been there a few times and one of my friends used to live there when she was younger. Umm from the impression i got was that there weren't many jobs there coz i saw a lot of people just sitting around smoking haha. i'd recommend going there for a few days beforehand to suss out if there are any jobs or anyone who will take you in for helping them out on their farm or whatever. Or you could just apply for the dole and just sit around and smoke all day haha. peace
What's a dole?? It's THE dole, unemployment benefits. Don't tell me you've never heard of the dole.
hahahaha, sorry guys. The dole is pretty much slang for a type of funding/ payment scheme for the unemployed. just say if where you live there is little or no job opportunities you can recieve the dole (money) because of this. Sorry, i just thought most people would know what the dole was. anyway nimbin is a pretty cool chilled out place. peace
illegal? hahaha man wtf. type in government welfare in google or something and do some research. i thought most australians would know about most welfare benefits. peace
You won't get the dole if ya move from a high employment area. Also not much work. I love the place but be AWARE. Love and peace
drop bears ey? did you by any chance edit the page about (R)adelaide on uncyclopedia? in all seriousness i do want to know what to be aware of when in nimbin....aware or beware i can't remember what he wrote. peace
To the original poster. Did you ever move to nimbin? I passed through last year on a road trip. Hasn't changed much? peace
nimbin is great, i live in syd but have been there once while visting family up there. this was before i had turned into the lil hippy i am now, but i remember been amazed and not wanting to leave....wow, flashback, turns out me and my sister made an oath that "when i grow up, i wanna be just like that" ha ha, well at least im now just like that...not so much her though... but it is a beautiful place, and seemed very friendly
nimbin is a great place if you like tourists and meth addicts. Sorry folks, nimbin died many many years ago, hard drugs came in and wpiped the place out. Sure you can still buy week from the 12 year olds, asking you if you want "smoke", near the alley, next the museum, if you want. Don't move to nimbin, any of you. You are not welcome, simple as that. You may think that becuase you are all peace/love/green that you will fit in, but no, you wont. Numbin has been raped folks, and they don't trust hippies or strangers anymore. Yes you read that right, they don't trust hippies. You have to remember people lived there before "hippies" showed up, and now the "hippies" are the locals. Good Luck for all those who choose to move there. homless-joe p.s. my best time for Brisbane - nimbin - Brisbane is 4 hours 27 min, and that includes the traffic hell of the Gold Coast. It's not a bad day trip, nimbin.
i think people smoke weed, reach some lost point, can't handle it anymore....being so distant from the non-weeders, and then go the other way on meth, as they need something as life can be just so dreadfully boring with the drone of society, they then get agro at everyone else for smoking weed in some hypocritical forgetfullness, reminding them of the peace they somehow lost... the sharpest teeth often win....its a pity... but all roads are hard when you walk a fine line. When we live in a world where everyone just wants everyone to be like them, and anyone who challenges our assortment of coping mechanisms and prisons, is an enemy. It's like we have a favourite type of paint, but so little that it hardly paints a corner of the canvas. We have to finish the painting so we then go and use another paint, that tries to make up for the other one. But together the paints look horrible, so we wipe the whole canvas with the cheaper paint.
heres an update, i was there 2 days ago, seems its a nice place to go for a visit, maybe a day, check it out at mardi grass if you like, but its not a place you would want to live. ice and meth have taken over the streets unfortunatly, though a new cop has controlled it some more now, even the locals tell me its not a healthy environment, some great little shops though. nimbin has sold out. its a real shame too
