I have been studying human improvement for a very long time. Anyway the reason I'm writing this post is because I've tested every thing out there, every book - everything. I have finally come across what works. All it involves is understanding change and homeostasis which allows you to evolve into a better person. I guarentee if anyone is feeling depressed that the method Ive come up with will make every aspect of your life a billion times better. Basically it's all based on a book by George Leonard but I've come up with a simple way to apply to your life. So if anyone needs any help with anything get the book or pm me and I can explain it to you quite quickly. It's really simple and common sense but it will change your life so much it's just unbelievable.
Well yeah it's hard to explain but I'll give it a shot. Basically to change as a person you have to change. But the body resists change because resisting change creates stability. So if you are trying to change in any shape or form your body will resist. If your depressed and try and become happy the body will resist because the body believes your depressed state is the safest for your body. This whole process of the body making sure everything is stable is called homeostasis. To truly change you need to be able to grasp this concept - the reason 99% of people stay on the same path they have always been on is because of homeostasis. They are at the mercy of their impulses. To change you have to evolve and the only way to evolve is very slowly. If you look up evolve in the dictionary you will find something like growing by degrees, not rapid. So the only way to change is to change extremely slowly so you don't set your biological alarms off. I'll give you a very typical example of how to change - many people live sedentary lifestyles and want to get exercising. But every time they start a new program they find themselves giving up after awhile. Then when they give it up they offer themselves all types of rationilizations e.g. well maybe my body was not meant for exercise etc. The real reason being that they have tried to change rapidly and the body sees that as a threat to it's stability so it RESISTS the change. Now if you understand homeostasis this is how you would go about going from a sedentary lifestyle to an active one. You might walk for 10 min mon, wed, fri then add another day the next week and another day the next week so on and so forth. After a fair few weeks you find yourself walking 10 minutes every day. Now what people would say is that doing 10 minutes of walking every day is pointless but it's not. Your allowing your body to adapt to the change. Instead of the body resisting the sudden change it finds the change enjoyable. After a few more weeks you add 1 min of running every day increasing it by another minute every week. After a year you would be running 30 mins a day and I guarentee you'd feel amazing and not only that but you'd be in great shape. This would dramatically change every aspect of your life, your social, family, work - everything. You would have changed dramatically but you could never of changed had you started running straight away because your body would have freaked out and the exercise would of been very difficult and unenjoyable hence you would give up. But because you understood homeostasis you were able to change and your regime would stay with you for life. Now that's how you achieve true long term change- it applies to every aspect of life but I used exercise to explain it since it's the easiest to understand. If your 100% happy with who you are and your life your not going to want to change and the fact is you probably will be for the rest of your life because of homeostasis. If that's you you don't need to worry about all this bullshit but if you want to change the blueprint you were born with and the person you became through school and your experiences you need to understand this otherwise you'll just be stabbing around in the dark and eventually you'll give up on changing yourself accept who you are and be that way for the rest of your life. But we are mammals and are capable of change, and are also capable of having extraordinary amounts of energy you just need to know how to harness it.
indeed.. change it hard. people get set in their ways.. or just simply don't know how to change. it's a long process. what you say makes since.. slow positive change is the way!
