i have a plant outdoors in the ground and i need to move it there is no way around it but i need to know hoe to dig it out of the ground and put it in a pot without killing it. its just started to bud
a plant. as in ONE? you can move it but you will probable shock it. how tall is it ? if its only say chest high.. Get a spade shovel and go down the length of blade about a foot away from the stem.. put in new planter, WATER IT, keep out of harsh sun light til it recovers usually a few days.
should be fine if you dont use a teaspoon to dig it up.. A real foot propelled shovel is what you need.. if not a very long garden hand shovel with a 7 inch blade ..
Agree cut or dig down with a spade around a foot away all round and as deep as ya can go and lever it out. The trick is not to damage the main tap root to badly the higher up ya damage it the less chance ya have same with most plants really.
Ya transplant right at dusk, it will give it the night to recover better and will help reduce shock for the plant.
