My locks are just over 1 week, had some great comments already :)

I just wanted to share some of the comments I have gotten from friends, they make me smile

I had them done about 4 days before the start of school. A friend whose locks just turned 2 yrs helped me section and backcomb. She graduated this year but now works for the company that takes school pictures, so I got to see her for my school picture. Instead of buying my school books I just sat and talked with her for 2 hours and her boss was cool with it even joined our dreadlock conversation. Said friend kept saying how excited she was that she had a friend with locks now and that we have to go on dready adventures together (we have previously gone on many ski, kayak, hiking trips). It made me so happy that she with her mature awesome locks was excited about mine .

Also, I was talking with a bunch of friends in the cafeteria, when I can see someone out of the corner of my eye staring at me. I look to see one of my team mates, she does the :O face when she recognizes me and gives me two thumbs up from across the caf. Later she came up to me and told me how much she loves them. "you are totally going all california surfer chick on me" she told me, I was wearing hemp bracelets, shorts and flip flops that day.
Also talked to some girls on my rugby team. They agreed that I will look batshit crazy on the field come april, in a good way.

Sorry my rant is over, I've just gotten so many nice comments that they outweigh the few negative ones.

How does one go on a dready adventure?

Do your dreads like, save middle earth or something?

 

i think you could just stick to regular adventures dreads don't make them any cooler (i've learned this)

dreads hemp shorts and flip flops doesn't equal California surfer chick

this is kinda annoying but at the same time not

im excited for you getting dreads but i think you need to calm down a little

you are getting too worked up learn to just chill out and go with the flow and basically forget about your hair

In about a week when they start looking like shit I think your next thread will be called "help, how do I fix my dreads".

lol, but seriously they only look good for a little while. It's going to look like a mess on your head no matter what you do. People who have dreads or have had them in the past will understand what your going to though.

don't listen to any of these people, if you maintain every night for an hour then theyll be awesome in no time!

step1-palm roll every dread
step2-crochet hook to put loose hairs back
step3-lock peppa and salt spray
step5-there is no step 4
step5-smoke the ganja
step6-(optional)put a lil bit of wax
step7-listen to bob
step8-geez
step9-eat plenty of seaweed
step10-form a coccoon
step11-emerge a beautiful butterfly


also, i went the neglect route... i did pretty much nothing except wear a hat and never wash my hair for a month or two. so don't listen to me.

ok I can see some of you are freaking out, some are being silly, and some are offering genuine advice. I actually did my research, I know my dreads will look like shit. In fact they have already started going fuzzy like crazy and I could care less. This thread wasn't about asking for advice (although good polite advice is appreciated) it was merely sharing my first week experiences.
Lol as for all those steps mmg I think I will just wash every couple of days and relax with Bob.

 

yeti, everyone seems to be on their period right now but whatever.... only reason I personally dislike this thread is the overwhelming lack of pics.
