Does anyone know what obamacare is? I think there is agrement that our health care system needs improvement. There is very little agreement past that.
The US Healthcare system really needs improvement in the worst way. When I was in San Francisco in the sixties I had a dealing with the health care system that I was none to pleased with . I had to go to the emergency room to pick up a girl who had been raped and her boyfriend had been severely beaten. Neither one of them had health insurance. Because she was able to walk, she was basically kicked out of the hosp. They kept her boyfriend in there for about 2 days until he was able to walk and then out he went. Neither one of them were really in any condition to be released: they should have had hospital care for a lot longer. But- because they were able to walk----'Good bye!!!'. I'm living in Canada and I have socialized health care, which to me is just great. Everybody gets the same kind of health care and it's not bad at all. The thing I like about it is that everyone has to wait in the same line no matter how rich you are. Nobody is going bankrupt . If I was in the USA, I would have been bankrupt a long time ago and living off of social assistance. I may not even have received my liver transplant. I might even be dead right now. I can go on forever on this subject- but to answer your question: you really need Obamacare. PAX P.S. I guess to alot of you I must sound like a communist.
I totally, absolutely, 100% agree with you, PAX. It is a travesty that the most powerful nation on earth will allow children or anyone else to: 1) go hungry, or 2) go without adequate medical care. As for those who ask how we will "pay for it", I ask them ... how do we pay for a ridiculous war halfway the world that accomplishes absolutely nothing? We already "pay for it" in families who are financially ruined by one serious accident or illness. We "pay for it" in the millions of lost manhours due to under-insured workers. We pay for it every time a child is inadequately cared for and later grows up to be sickly or disabled because of it. And you don't sound like a "communist" or any other kind of "ist". You just sound like a human being who recognizes an idea whose time has come. This may just be the rantings of an old lady but this is one of those things that riles me up.
