    i don't plan on having a kid, but if it happens the rules are simple;

    don't get caught with it, dont sell it, and buy it only from trusted sources.

    the only other rule would probably be keep your hands off my stash. id be pretty open about smoking weed with my kid. i wouldn't push them into it though, or introduce them to it, and if they never got into smoking weed on their own i wouldn't inform them that i'm a pothead myself.

    I won't introduce it to them, and I won't let them smoke until they're older. However, I will educate them with honestly if they ask questions.
    My parents demonized weed when I was young, and it didn't stop me from smoking at all. I'm not going to be an uber-strict mother, but I do want them to be responsible and use it in moderation.

    I've already run this experiement...

    Our kids grew up seeing us drink and toke, but not all that often, not even every day. We never hid it, never lied about it, never encouraged it, never forbade it, and didn't make a big deal out of it.

    They are now 20-somethings, one tokes daily but never drinks alcohol; the other drinks a few beers maybe once a week or so, and may hit on a joint a few times a year at most. Neither have had any kind of drug or alcohol problems, and both see pot as more of an herbal mood remedy than a "drug." Neither had any real problems in their teenaged years, and I can honestly say I think my kids were more fun as teenagers than as babies and toddlers, and that's saying a lot. Today they're my absolute best and closest friends; I work with the oldest one, who happens also to own the building I live in :) and is a great landlord.

    So that's how it worked out for me, YMMV.

    If they can handle it better than I did, go right ahead.

    Well my dad was open about his Acid use and I became familiar with the mechanics of recreational drug use at an early age. I did a lot of research growing up, and only started smoking weed when I was 17. I don't think exposure necessarily leads to use, if done right.

    My own kids I'll educate about everything in that respect.

    Yeah moderation is turning into a big thing for me as I get older, seems to make more sense than ever ;). I'd totally be okay with my kids (if I ever have them) doing it, as long as it seemed like a decently intelligent decision... I would want them to be educated about it, I guess!

    Good question anyways.
