    Hey guys,

A buddy of mine and myself are trying to learn about hopping. We are in a city 40 mile south of Atlanta. Norfolk Southern has a line that stops in our city and again at a bigger yard in a city about 20miles west of us. We want to try a small trip maybe down to Macon and back or even up to Chattanooga and back.

From what I've read, if we can find a railroad atlas we should be able to tel what trains at what times are heading where. Supposedly, 24 trains a day make the trip from Atl to Chattanooga. How can we find out more and what can we do to get started?

    Any advice is super appreciated!!

I know plenty of kids who ride the rails cross country no less. I would start out small if was you. never ride alone, and watch out in the trains yards for the FTRA that's a train gang that'll beat you up steal your shit and leave ya for dead. They are mostly a Colorado and Western gang though.

As for map of trains and where they're going I bet you could google something like that.

    Hehehe
It was a great movie! (for its time and genre:p) Borgnigne played great evil guys...

There's a part where Coburn is hanging on the underside of the moving train and borgnigne feeds a long chain with a lead weight on the end under the train so its bouncing around off the tracks and beating the hell out of dude under the train...yeah, evil...

I only have dial up here so I can't upload the flick fast enough for my amount of patience with the net. So i can't comment on it.

But ZW that sig pic is freakin awesome! I just got a trumpet myself, I also got a bugle, can't play the bugle nearly as well than the trumpet, it's all about the mouth piece.

Thanks. Mine's a Cornet. Not much different from a trumpet, just a little mellower.

Special tip: Don't put too much credence in the whole mouthpiece holy grail mumbo jumbo you hear. That shit fucked me up for years until I really learned how to play with decent tone...I realised how little the equipment matters...It's mostly all you. The mp that fits into your horn is probably fine.

    OK back on subject...

I wouldn't hop a train if you paid me. The incompetent boobs that run the trains around here...well, let's just say I was evacuated from my house for two weeks because of a train derailment/ chlorine spill (plus various other undisclosed chemicals...)http://www.wildrockies.org/cmcr/Projects/albert1.html[IMG]
I even Know personally of illiterate people who work for said rail company. a They are notorious for derailing their trains due to poor track maintenance.

I am in western canada and i am attemting to get to eastern canada and i think the rails are my best shot. I know its not safe and a long slow process. But the other options are not fast either. a.k.a. id rather wait for a train then to get picked up hitch hiking. I had a fried who got shot by a woman who picked him up on the highway.:(

Found a cool website too http://www.thespoon.com/trainhop/train1b.html

Rail Punk do you have any tips for me?
