I really should care less about this, but what's wrong with people and their understanding of "I couldn't care less"? I constantly hear "I could care less" and I even see it far too often written by people in these forums. What they really mean is "couldn't". As in- "I care so little about this that I couldn't possibly care any less." It really spoils things when people actually have a good argument going for them.

I know what you mean but it may not actually cause an international incident.

That's such an ironic thing to say in a forum titled "Endless whining about nothing."

And the select few that use "are" for "I'll". "Are see you later tonight!" Muppets.

I've always hated that mistake too, because if you could care less, how is that noteworthy?? It means nothing.
Another thing that gets me is "supposebly" and one I only recently heard (from a family member no less!) "easibly." Jesus, people. Don't you give a DAMN how you sound to the rest of the world??
I know it's judgmental, but I really can't help it. I associate these mistakes with people of lower intelligence and/or childish mentality, which is unfortunate because some of the smartest people I know just don't give a shit and think they're just exercising their divine right not to speak or write correctly. Just makes me want to shake them and scream "grow up!"
I don't mean typos, because everyone has those from time to time (personally I do my best to catch all of mine, but hey, sometimes you slip). I mean just a blatant disregard for the English language and a reliance on others to just "know what you mean."
Internet forums aren't really a good example of this, because people get lazy and slip into chatspeak, so I usually just try to swallow my frustration and save it for peer reviewing papers at school. :p

Completely. I too try to catch my typing errors. I slip up though and I'm not perfect.

Your/you're and to/too do annoy me too, they're easy words to be able to understand. I totally understand the spelling mistakes when it comes to longer, less used words but I like to use a spell check or a dictionary- It's just not attractive to get words wrong. But saying things wrong and making up words is a whole new story. My mum pronounces certain words incorrectly, which isn't too bad since she doesn't introduce letters and so on that just don't belong there. I think it's important to speak well, and to write well too. If in doubt, use a bloody dictionary!
