do people not know what rabies is? if anything "has rabies" it doesn't live very long after it shows symptoms and all wild animals don't automatically have rabies.
I went 'camping' last summer (or whatever it was- my mom brought just about the whole house. We slept on air mattresses and everything. We'z is yuppies) and near us was a family of idiots. There was a family of raccoons that wondered about the campsite, a mama and probably six or so babies. So cute! But they would climb in the trees and such, and the family near us argued day and night over what animal they could possibly be....They finally settled on monkeys. Yes, wild monkeys in a highly commercialized camp ground......In Florida... The youngest boy suggest 'raccoons' once, and was scoffed at by the fatties. It made me sad about my culture. ^pointless
mokeys? now thats just silly lol he probably isn't rabid, but like i said if he bites you go get shots. they can carry rabies without becoming "rabid" or showing any signs of disease. skunks are also natural carriers of rabies (they do actually make excellent indoor pets once deglanded... they are kindof like a big ferret) and bats. and i don't think vets will give a racoon rabies shots, at least they don't in Texas! but love him and do your best to care for him while he is little and definately let him outside once he can take care of himself, otherwise you will have complete and utter chaos in your house lol !
AH! Feels good to be missed! School has started..... Ever read the book 'Roots'? What about 'The Chosen' or 'The Good Earth'?? Ever tried to read all three in a week?!?! Impossible. I transferred to a new school and didn't get the 'summer reading' assignment. We didn't have such a thing at my old school....But alas, no exemption from the exam on these books for me. I don't understand it....But, I have been trying to read these books in the wee hours I have between school and precious sleep, and by the way, I dislike reading. To the max. But this is an AP class, (Advance placement) And it counts as a college credit, so I figure I might as well try. The pressure from my family is on me to be a good student, because my brothers both pissed away their education. ^Nerd. And! I'm in the middle of moving from house to house to house, and been working with a professional artist just about everyday...I swear, this is just about the busiest I've ever been! But, I still find time to mess around on the interweb Now that my life story has been typed..... sorry about that!
That is busy. And super shitty about all the reading. I hope life gets a little less busy in the next bit. I hate being super busy. Ok... I'll stop derailing the thread now. =)
he died today. my parents think he had round worms in his brain or something. he was holding his head in between his body and it started to swell. then like half an hour later he died. its what ever. at least we tried.
poor bastard. IIRC rabies has like a 6 month incubation period, but once your showing symptoms then A-There is no cure B-It is fatal. But on the other hand, who gives a fuck.
Did anyone see that documentary about that medical marvel who magically cured herself of rabies? heres a site http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/16827.php
Cool. I have skunks come into my yard all the time. There was one skunk that went up my stairs while I was sitting there and accidentally licked my toe!
Well we'll see when it goes rabid in this sleep and attacks him and his family! Haha Edit: Oh he died My condolences to his raccoon'ness
Indeed at least your tried. Im really sorry Seth, i know your where excited about caring for It..
Sorry for the loss again but to get off topic, well not really. One of our dogs at the doggie daycare i was working at, well the dogs family moved back to the UK, and they said they could bring there dog back there only if the dog was under quarantine for 6 months because the dogs over there dont have or get rabies, or its very rare more then The USA.. Just wondering, because i thought it was Sad that the family couldnt see there dog for 6 months for moving back to there country. but understand if Rabies isnt a huge problem over there..
I was going to move to Hawaii but they said my cat had to be quarantined for the same time and same reasons. So I decided not to do, since I'd rather have my annoying cat with me instead of stuck in some place surrounded with other animals.
We don't have it at all and haven't for about 75 years or so that's why we're really fucking strict with quarantine. There's been a few stories of late about troops wanting to bring home the base pets. But the gov can't be arsed footing the quarantine fees or something like that.
Oh wow, I felt so bad that the Dog had to sit there for 6 months, but now i understand. I wish we didnt have Rabies over here.
