Um yeah i get it Im just saying it would be easy to keep his house Clean and i mean they have worm cleaning supply at the pet store for cat worms, GET IT? you dont need to sit there and Preach about how you wouldnt take it in because it could have worms. Thats not an option that's just Like it says up top. Hater This Family is just trying to do a good thing for a helpless animal. GET IT ? LOL i dont think many Vets would see a Raccoon, They would tell them to take it to animal control. Then they would probably kill the poor baby.
nope, not even with a camera.. I dont shoot animals unless Im gonna eat em.. ... awe, dont poop on the parade..
Firstly I didn't say he should or shouldn't keep it. All I did was provide some information that may be beneficial to anyone considering having a raccoon in their home. You get the same information about kittens when you adopt or take them to the vet. Excuse me for trying to be informative And I never said you should kill it, I didn't even say anything about getting rid of it. I said I wouldn't keep one in my house. So maybe before you call me a hater you should try to actually read what I write instead of just assuming I am "hating" on anyone.
I think they GET IT.. .. I wouldnt keep it, I had one when I was a teen, in a large cage.. It had to be killed because it was 100% vicious.. 250% illegal, but we had it for a few years.. this is no lie. I knew this blond girl that seen a raccoon on the road, opened her car door to give it a ride. Its just a cute furry animal right? As she leaned over to let it back out the passenger door, it snapped out and clawed her face.. talk about dumb blonds.
Free random pets FTW! I say keep the bastard, if he wants to go then he'll just fuck off one day. You could prick yourself on a thorn in the park tomorrow and get gas gangrene or necrotizing fasciitis anyway, so blind worm or fleas isnt anything that id lose sleep over..
my mother used to have a pet raccoon. she found it when it was a baby and said that they kept it for a few years, but then it got wild. so i would say keep him while he is a baby and take care of him,but it might be best to let him out when he gets older. he is precious! i want to see some more pictures =D
ocular larva migrans ftw! also, it's fucked up to keep a wild animal trapped in your home when he doesn't belong there. and raccoons are the reservoir for rabies and you need to call wildlife rescue to take him off your hands if you trully care about his wellbeing
A few years ago every night while I'd be having a cigarette a skunk would come into my back yard and walk up to my feet and just sit there. At first I would get pretty nervous because she'd sneak up on me in the dark and before I had time to go inside she'd be sitting at my feet. One night I brought out some food for her and while she was eating I pet her. She was cool with it so the next night I put some food under my shed and a blanket for her to sleep on. She lived in there all that year and winter, then the next summer she had two babies. The three of them lived there all that summer and winter, but the next summer the man came around and took them away. Bastards Their names were: -Petey (mama) -Pew (babe) -Peppy (other babe)
How funny.. I'm listening to "They deserve to Die" from Cannibal Corpse reading about the wild raccons and bunnies... hmm lol, maybe it's a sign And I hope the raccoon doesn't bite you! (Seriously, they have rabies)
My whole point was for them to keep it, to get it back to life, and i was happy that people care about animals that much. For someone to just turn the animal away WOULD BE HEARTLESS.
Here Seth i found this when i was researching your Area, im in WI and we dont have any wild life rescue centers that will care for Raccoons LOL .. Vig might in the her State but almost every place will not care for Raccoons, possums, skunks and so forth. They will only take care of Deers, wolves, foxes, not urban wildlife. So Vig. do your research before you call people idiots. So here is a wildlife Hospital i found in your area, for your Raccoon, so you can see if its got Rabies and Worms and all that.. http://www.floridawildlifehospital.org/
afterall, a registered veterinary technician would know nothing of these things. seth, i would personally call around yourself. the raccoon will not do good in your care and there are other zoonotic diseases, including the ocular larva migrans, that you could be infected with. it is in the best interest of both you and the animal to find a professional to handle this.
i have raised many a wild baby. i have my rabies shots and get a booster every year. my mom had raccoons when she was a kid but they lived outside in the trees, not in a cage or in the house. they will open all your cabinets and destroy everything in your house! but they are so damn cute. who with a heart could resist? just go in with the knowlege that they do carry diseases (especially be careful of rabies... anyone read Rant?) and they are definately not domestic pets. otherwise i say put him in the back yard and feed him and enjoy his personality because coons definately have personalities! but if he bites you go to the hospital and get rabies shots... and call animal control...
