    I call it the "Internet", but sometimes refer to it as an "Encyclopaedia".

    edit:
    Or a "Library".

    I guess I've delved so far into nerdlom that all I have to say is the website name. I never say "Hey, I was cruisn' the nets the other day and found _____", I'm usually just like "Yeah I googled that, or "So I was on the(whatever)blog the other day and saw ______".

    Or better yet, I just say I was at home or in my room and everybody automatically assumes I was on the internet.

    "The blue nowhere" is a rather nice name for cyber space, but my personal fav is "The Tubes". Tubes make perfect sense if you have a good idea of the TCP/IP protocol suite.

    I always say 'interweb'....It started out just something to say, and it eased it's way into everyday conversation.

    or I type 'internetz'.

    "Tubes" is an interesting one. Is that sort of like "The Layers" of the TCP/IP suite?

    erizoe:: No I have not heard of "THe INternet Is A Series Of TUBES!", is it very interesting? Although I did read a little blurb in some magazine talking about Obama favoring Neutral net policies and all that has a lot to do with politics involving information privacy.

    Adderall_Assasin::
    IP(Internet Protocol) is the addressing system of the tubes that transfer information and TCP(Transfer Control Protocol) is part of the trucking service that move information to and from destinations as defined by the IP. The layers of TCP/IP suite are just part of getting to the "tubes" as I understand them.(Although I would guess you would already have an idea of this being a student of Unix)

    And I say tubes because a communication channel opened between two stations on a network act like a tube for little pieces of information to travel across and the internet is made up of layers and layers of these channels

    Btw Adderall_Assassin, do you take that drug, I had a prescription for it but it turned me into a raging emotional mess so I stopped taking it after the first week. I could see it being good for an assasin, help them get there rage up before a fight. lol.

    ROTFL, if you listen to the more of his speech you can tell that he had some smart people that understand the internet describe it to him and not all of it got through...

    And yes, erizoe, he does have a better idea than most people.
