He is so cute! Are you gonna plan to release him back into the wild when he's grown? I saw this programme the other day about this family who found this baby deer and kept it as a pet when it grew up. It greets mailmen and stuff and they were like "wtf...?"

It is lawful for landowners to humanely destroy or live-trap nuisance raccoons without a permit from the FWC, but if the raccoon is trapped, it must either be released on the same piece of property where it was captured, or it must be humanely destroyed. :(

umm its illegal to shoot a paintball gun in my backyard, its illegal for me to smoke cigs, its illegal for me to smoke weed, its illegal for me to take xanax, and its illegal for me to drink alcohol.
what the fuck makes u think i care about having a wild animal as a pet.

idk what the plans are right now. but hes really unsteady so i think we're ganna feed him until he gets better and if he sticks around he sticks around, if he leaves he leaves.

all those other things you state are illegal are not a living life form..

Poor guy, he's probably really weak or he's confused by his surroundings. Reminds me of the days when I used to rear my dad's sick baby birds because he was all about "Survival of the fittest". And I felt really bad. I hope he pulls through.

You know raccoons carry roundworms in their bodies and then release the eggs when they drop a deuce and it is pretty easy to get some fecal matter on your fingers or nails, transferring those eggs to yourself. If they make their way to your eyes they can cause blindness.

    No thanks

thats why you use gloves when picking up the Poo and wash your hands with sanitizer.. I watch animal planet's eaten alive and some little kid got Roundworm by playing in the damn dirt, SO .. its a chance, but why let something so innocent die because of that.

    It would be Pretty heartless.

It isn't hard for the animal to walk in its own feces spreading it around the house. You can have the tiniest bit like the tip of a needle contaminated with millions of eggs.

I don't think they should be killed but I sure as hell wouldn't want them roaming around my house

raccoons are one of my favorite animals, i can't explain why, and i'm sure i sound like a freak for saying that, but its so cute...i will ask teh same question someone else did...are you planning on raising it and then releasing it into the wild when it's older, or what is the plan?

Clean, disinfect, bleach. There are tons and tons of things to help prevent the spread of any type of worm eggs. They even sell shit at the pet store for kittens that have worms because it happens a lot, more then any other pet. Those worms are also dangerous too if ingested and they are spread just how you explained, but people still keep kittens.

Raccoons are wild animals. Kittens and cats do have medicines for the worms they get but raccoons do not. Get it? Raccoons are not domesticated animals and shouldn't be. I don't really think cats should be kept inside the house either.

Why do you think raccoons rummage through the garbage and attack people? Raccoons need a lot of space to live and don't like confinement, even a house.

I found my cat outside but took him to the vet to make sure he was clean, at least do the same with the raccoon.

This isn't to the OP at all either, he can keep the raccoon in a backpack attached to his hip for all I care. Your house you do what you want.
