Thanks LSD... didn't necessarily mean smoke one up, but shit, if it's to be found, I'll definitely be on board. (Lived in the Middle East for 3 years and was dry the entire time - I have some maaad catching up to do.) Thanks again for the info...

A pretty good area for your tastes would most likely be a mile or so east of Cincinnati State on Ludlow Road. There's good and safe apartments nearby, small businesses and everything is within walking distance. Great places there include The Esquire Theater, Graeter's and the original Skyline Chili...that is if you don't mind chili being the consistency of Alpo.

Or, you can try the eastern part of Oakley that borders on Hyde Park; Edwards Road exit off of I-71 South. There's Rookwood Commons, lots of small business in Hyde Park and it too is fairly priced and calm.

    Here's an overall guide.

Areas to avoid living (this is mandatory):
    Mt. Airy (Becoming ghetto)
    White Oak (Megachurch/Wal Mart wonderland)
    Groesbeck (Becoming redneck)
    Over The Rhine (Super Ghetto)
    Northside (Redneck Heroin Dealer's Paradise)
    Queensgate (Becoming super ghetto)
    Cheviot (Asshole cops)
Western Hills/Price Hill (The whole nine)
West Chester/Liberty Township (Snobby asshole central)
    Batavia/Amelia (Teenage pregnancy/Nascar Central)

    So-so areas:
Clifton (good one block, shitty the next)
    Montgomery (snobitorium)

    Preferential areas:
Hyde Park (upscale but small business oriented)
    East Oakley (affordable Hyde Park)
    Ludlow (small business paradise)

I live in the city of Cincinnati, about ten minutes from UC. This thread is stretched across vast time, but ... any of you going to the Phish shows 11/20/09 and 11/21/09?

    here's a bit of help...

you'll want to check out Stanley's, The Mad Frog, and pretty much all of the Covington area for a couple of bands that tend to draw kids...

The Rumpke Mt. Boys (psych-bluegrass, strong Dead bent)
The Turkeys (think modernized Simon and Garfunkle)
    Selector (funky reggae)
Freekbass (not exactly local anymore, but around a lot, think G. Clinton meets Primus)

otherwise, the Clifton/Corryville/UC area, Covington, Hyde Park...all pretty good shots at meeting kids. expect the trust fund heads in Hyde and Covington

and anyone afraid of Northside is a boring pussy
