    Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to print a quality image on a shirt. I mean other than the cheap transfers you can buy at Walmart. There has to be a good way....I've tried to research it, but I can't find the information anywhere. I mean like if I wanted to make my own band t-shirt or something. Thanks!

I think the most quality way would be to silk screen it yourself, you can find plenty of instructions online for that, kits even...

i used to make a lot of t shirts using freezer paper stencils :) basically what you do is buy freezer paper from the grocery store (with the saran wrap and such) and put the image you want onto the paper. (you can cut the freezer paper to printer size and print it out too, just mind which side you're printing on..the paper side.) cut it out like a regular stencil. (exacto knife !) then put the stencil wax side down on the shirt and iron it on. then paint over the shirt peel it off and voila.

in terms of transfers, i know there are some really quality ones you can buy. try the higher-end office stores...

It depends on how many colours you want to print. If it's just a few (I'd put the limit at three), you could make stencils or screenprint. If you want to print photos, try zazzle.com.

Avery has ink jet printer T-shirt transfer paper, it looks like a simple way to go if the image isn't too detailed, as I remember they weren't cheap. There's plenty of reviews both for and against on amazon.

I've not had good experiences with iron-on images (they peel!) but i ama fan of stencilling. just cut out the stencil on some cardstock or cardboard (empty cereal cartons work well) and use acrylic paint (or hell, even spray paint works) to stencil it on.

Speedball makes kits and therefore the supplies to keep going.
This is where I hit up crafster, because they do awesome tutes (tutorials), or any anarchist crafty sort site.

the basic method I've used in a pinch is starch/modpodge/thick glue to block areas on a stretched nylon.

if you go cheap with the stencil, get good screen print ink.

thanks for reminding me of a craft I need to fiddle with again! I'm going a tad stir crazy being on Team U.
