No, I think the internet will be shut down before that, in place of the highly-regulated, highly-controlled, heavily-taxed "Internet II." There have been so many bills introduced that are going after the internet.
it may take me that long to get back here, because i will almost certainly be gone in another ten days. for i have no idea how long. months at least almost certainly. i don't think 2012 is some magical cut off date. but i do think trends that have been ongoing for most of a number of decades now, will have converged to bring about changes that might still surprise a lot of people, even on here. even that converging is over a period of time though, probably a lot longer then one year, or even one decade. they may even take place so gradually and over so long a period of time, the few people will even realize that they have. or, just as easily they could come about very quickly. but still not likely on some arbitrary date.
This is a little more practical than the 5 years thread. I might still be off & on at that point, but the whole 2012 apocalypse is absurd.
I think we'll find that in 2012 the apocalype didn't happen, but we will be assured that it is just a few more years away, and 'they' have admitted it, etc etc.
I sure hope there won't be an apocalypse in 2012. If there is, then I've been wasting my life by going to coolege and saving money. Seriously though, I just started on the site tonight, so who knows for sure just how long I'll be hopping around.
The attacks on the internet are a mere diversion tactic, in my opinion. People have shown that they feel stronger about their internet rights than many of their other more important rights... Smoke and mirrors. As long as people are reading about and fighting for the interwebz, they're not reading about and fighting for things that are far more important...
