I hpe the Scottish Justice Secretary hasn't allowed himself to be swayed by Hilary Clinton's crass attempt to intervene in Scotland's internal affairs. The man was convicted in a Scottish court and it's for the Scottish government to decide the rights and wrongs of the matter.

The BBC is reporting there is a Libyan plane on it's way to Scotland to pick him up right now.

 

McLeodGanja, I think it was confirmed he would be released about 12 last night. I was listening to the radio and it said so...I did say so, but it seems to have gotten lost here.

Anyhoo, I'm not sure if he should have been released...but it did provoke the thought that sometimes we are hypocrites in this country, perhaps most people are. Foreigners, well they can rot in our jails, but when the same thing happens to our fellow citizens abroad, we seem to want them home, and the reporting would have us believe the prison guards will be taking turns with our citizens, in more ways than one.
Which is in most cases, not true.

And the UK has some of the worst deals for prisoner exchange of all. Most countries you only have to serve a few months of your sentence, whereas in the UK it tends to be a lot higher.

I guess they must have also completely forgotten about the deaf charity worker who was stiched up in India and went to prison for 20 years about 5 years ago.
