Do you beleive Jesus was the last prophet? If so, how do you explain John's revelations revealed to him?...Just curious...
I believe that there are many prophets alive today. And many false prophets too. I also believe that some with good intentions will see part of the picture, misinterpret it and be a false prophet unintentionally. The reason I believe this is that I have read some prophecies that I find very interesting. Also, I have had about 6 precognitive dreams in my life, and they were very exact, and had these dreams between a couple of days, up to over 7 years before the event happened in reality. These were not significant events, even in my life, just scenes from the future. And I never know which dream is one till it happens for real. So, i am no prophet. I like the Native American ones about the 'third shaking', which is their term for the apocalypse. These are very old prophecies, and they say that at the end times, we will have invented a device they call, 'the gourd of ashes', that will burn people up like grass in a prairie fire. (atomic bomb maybe?). we will have built a house in the sky. (space station) and the funniest one to skeptics at the time. You will have to pay for water. how unbelievable, huh?
Christ was not just a prophet, he was God in the flesh. There are several prophets in the Bible, John, as you mentioned, being a prime example. There are prophets today as well.
i dunno.....if u can propchesie does that make a u a prophet or just sum1 with one of the gifts of the holy spirit??? coz i know ppl who can prophecie,iv done it also, but i dont think that makes me a prophet???
Ya, one of my christian friend agrees with what you say here, but another claims Jesus said that no prophets would come after Him, and uses that as an excuse to refute islam (which i know most of you aren't)...Thoughts...
Personally, I believe a prophet is a messenger of God. This means they speak truth, and understand the Laws of karma, prayer, correct livlihood, etc. A man like Jesus surrendered his physical self to reach Christ Consciousness, in the flesh. Literally his human self died to obtain something greater. He is not the only one to have done this in my belief
Prophet Someone who is the mouthpiece of God. He stands between God and man to communicate to man the word of God. When the prophet spoke as the mouthpiece he was inspired and without error. The prophet, though, is not a puppet or a mindless repeater of what he hears. Instead, he retains his own will, mind, and thoughts as he speaks for God. God would put His words in their mouths (Deut. 18:18; Jer. 1:9). A prophet was God's servant (Zech. 1:6) and messenger (2 Chron. 36:15). The prophecies fell into three categories: concerning the destiny of Israel, the messianic prophecies, and eschatological prophecies. The term Law and Prophets refers to the writings of the OT divided into two categories. The Law is the Pentateuch, or Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The Prophets are all the rest of the OT books.
Acts 2:17 says, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Right, a prophet of God speaks the truth... lol. God jokes with people- hey, Don't do that or I will send you to hell!!! Roar!! I am the great mighty God!!! I am a gaudy God!!! Roar!!! ffft ptthpt...

Salam I am a muslim and we believe that Jesus is not the last prophet. the last prophet is Muhammed (peace be upon him). 285. . The Messenger (Muhammad SAW) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say, "We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers" - and they say, "We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all)." Quran Verse 285 "Surat Al-Baqara 286 "
