    Hello

I did not get any education for meditation or I did not try meditation with a tutor. I have been trying meditation for months and I can see clear result for meditation. Unfortunately, I can't tell I came inside for meditation. I am still near the door. After some minutes of relaxing and not thinking anything or after getting a clear mind, my body starts trembling and i feel like i am gonna die soon or something like that. I can still feel the control on my body but the trembling or & shaking of my body scares me. Trembling & shaking of body & feeling like dieing are common on meditation process or I am doing something wrong? I thought maybe I force myself to meditate or to clear my mind and that's why my body is trembling but I do not think so. Could someone pls inform me about this situation? Do you think everything is normal or I'm doing something wrong?

    Best Regards

What do you think about it? You say you feel like you are gonna die... According to what you know of yourself, is it normal? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. What I can tell you is that is that IF I felt like I was going to die during meditation, I personnaly would STOP immediately, and reconsider.

BUT that's just me, maybe some dark things inside you need to be expressed.

It was said about meditation that if it feels right, you're doing it right. So ask yourself if this is right. Sometimes ugly feelings ARE the right thing to feel, because you were scarred in the past and whatnot. So give it a chance... but if in the long term it gets worse, you SHOULD try another approach. In the long term, meditation should not feel like DYING.

Meditation is the expression of LIFE!

This morning I was meditating and something similiar happened to me. With every breathe I let in Gods beauty and recognized the connectivity of us all. Eventually I was standing in the midst of nothing. I was the emptiness that is gods infinite wisdom and love. I could feel and visualize God hugging me gently like a child. AS I focused on the emptiness and warmth I saw a light pour in from the left. My eyes started to roll back and flutter. My ego was telling me to snap out of it but my heart was telling me to let go and immerse myself with it. I almost fell backwards the force was so strong and unlike anything I had ever experienced. Right before I was immersed in it my ego got the best of me and brought me crashing back down to the physical realm of things. I opened my eyes and was trembling and gasping for air. My heart was pounding as if I had just ran a marathon and my hands, arms, and legs were shakey. It took me awhile to re adjust myself to my surroundings. It was insanely intense yet the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. Once I realized I was okay I tried meditating again to relive it but I was too shocked and in awe of what just happened that I wasnt able to get into the right state of mind again! Anywho....I think the trembling is natural. Try to push a little farther each time and dont be afraid to let go! good luck!

I had a similar experience. I was meditating and feeling very relaxed and suddenly I felt a draining sensation... like my body was shutting down. This feeling scared and suprised me so I snapped out of the trance and my whole body tremored as I did so. Afterwards I had regreted not letting myself just let go and experience whatever was about to happen. This strange occurence has happened to me a few times but everytime it overwhelms me and I can't seem to achieve whatever it is that lies beyond my fear of the unknown.

Some people tell me it's normal and i should continue to get a solution but that trembling scares me and a couple of minutes later i give up meditating or my body gives up automatically. Some people told me I have lots of energy and it happens because of that energy and I should spend my energy before meditating. I go to gym everyday and I changed my meditation times from morning to night after this offer. Unfortunately, everything seems same. Again, I started trembling before meditation. This trembling starts a couple of minutes later after trying to get meditation. When my mind is absolutely clear and when I feel maximum relaxed, I feel like I am going somewhere. It's something or some feeling that I can't explain. After that, trembling starts. I think it scares me that's why I stop it. Maybe I should make me believe myself that everything is gonna be better soon. I really do not know. If you share your opinions about this, I will be so happy. Thank you so much from now.

Is there some sort of "pro" you can go to? Just have them watch you meditate and maybe they can point out a flaw.

Maybe a flaw in the way you are sitting?
Maybe a flaw in your overall technique?

Maybe you can try a new sitting position and see if it makes a difference.

I have never experienced it but have only been doing it for a short period of time.

    Hello

There is no pro who is watching me. I was told I do need any pro to learn meditation. But, I might find a pro to guide me. I do not think if my sitting position cause this because I feel it a couple of minutes later(after I clear my mind completely), but still I am not sure..You might be right..I will try different sitting position today and let you know. Any help about this event is welcomed. Thank you so much from all...

Have you considered that it's not a problem related specifically to meditation? Maybe some health problem... I don't know, just asking?

    This is awesome!

When you sit down to clear your mind it's very common to feel the things you describe. The shaking/trembling is a great sign, the fear of death normal and should fade with more exposure to such intense experiences, maybe you will even experience death and be reborn : )

It has been done this way for as long as there have been humans, this is the most common mystical vehicle in indigenous medicine and it's still around today where these cultures have survived. Some have been mixed with Christian traditions, like the Indian Shaker's from the American Northwest, however, even if you read some of the earliest accounts of Christians, wild ecstatic behavior like you profess is present there too, as it was with the Quakers and other later Christian sects, especially those with dual roots in Africa. Such descriptions can be found in nearly all mystical paths.

I know sometimes it feels like I'm almost hit with something, such an intense feeling comes on, my mind opens up and it's like a burst of knowledge & ecstasy both at once and my breath gets very deep and I start to shake, sometimes it is wonderful, sometimes frightening. When it was more intense I used to get a the feeling something was filling my belly, really strong like liquid silver and I'd start to shake like crazy and then I knew I was going for a ride. At this time I didn't understand what has happening and went towards yoga and meditation to even things out a little and try to get a grip on my life. I really felt like I couldn't take the kinds of things I was experiencing. I used meditative, calm practices for a few years and I still do, but I am also coming back around to more like what we are talking about here, embracing the wild, powerful experiences as well as the deeply calm ones.

I think the two are always present, however, most people either go more to one than the other, sometimes strictly so. Some people are incredibly wild like Bama Kshepa and some are very sober like Junayd Baghdadi.

Since I started the calmer practices I have developed more equanimity in everyday life and been able to digest a lot of what I experienced earlier, but not all of it. I've been able to more directly penetrate the root of my own mind and more importantly understand and live this experience, which seems more difficult when things are totally wild unless you can take it right out to the end and like a Kalahari Bushman says "Sometimes you even become God," but I was too afraid to do that at the time.

If you want to know about this I suggest you look into the work of Bradford Keeney, he has worked with Elders from all over the world who specificially practice what he calls "Shaking Medicine" so it's a good place to start, and/or depending on where you live if you can search around a little you can maybe work directly with people who also walk this way, talk this way.

    Good form!

    Hello

No Any Color You Like, I do not have any health problem vice versa I'm young and I'm into sports a lot. I will search about Bradford Keeney evolove. I hope everything is normal. Because, I can'T get into next step after my body starts shaking. That's why I can't meditate and I fail at every attempt. Maybe I do stop it myself after shaking or it stops automatically. I hope I will find an answer soon.

My experience leads me the believe that the trembling comes with an increase in the level of energy and concsiousness being experienced. Your body and mind are not used to these increased levels, so it begins to shake. With time, your body and mind may adjust and the phenomena may decrease or stop all together, this is the way it's done in some yogic traditions. It also may continue or get stronger as you develop and encounter greater and greater levels of energy and concsiousness which is the path taken when people feel like this in the Kalahari (and other societies.) They allow it to get stronger and stronger until they leave their bodies and go on a spiritual journey. Either way seems to be a good way, depending on the constitution and character of the individual involved.

I personally have chosen to do it both ways, if that is possible, or perhaps combining the two to find a middle way would be more accurate. I sit to meditate, when my body begins to move I let it go spontaneously for as long as it feels right, just slowly flowing, sometime fast big movements, sometimes shaking. Usually I get to a kind of plateau stage where I'm almost meditating anyway, moving very slowly or not at all and then I sit down to meditate in a more traditional manner. I developed a version of this myself, using practical experience, research and dreams to guide the process and then soon after came across a traditional lineage who practices what I was already doing, which was a nice conformation of my own developments and also allowed me to be part of a group who I was already in harmony with, who could also protect and aid my development.

What I'm getting to is that I think teachers are very important, there are things that can go wrong when you are dealing with very intense experiences. For eg. if you leave your body you want somebody who can guard over it so no other entities can mess with it, and if you do leave and find yourself in a strange world, you need to know what to do, where to go and how to avoid danger, not to mention many other things. So having guidance is very important because your dealing with your direct perception and experience of reality, and you don't really want to fuck that up. An analogy would be messing around under the hood of your car without really understanding what your doing... when I was at the mechanics the last time he told me a story of a guy who did that, following the guidance of an equally unexperienced friend, and when he finally took it to the shop it ended up bursting into flames while it sat waiting to be worked on.

So my best advice would be to find yourself the best teacher you can and ask for their assistance directly. It seems naturally your a Shaker, so you could use that very trembling as your path, embrace it rather than try to get past it, or you could find a teacher of meditation who will help you to move beyond it and go deeper that way. Really neither way is better or worse, I am part of a lineage of very sober meditators and when I started to get back into the more primal shaking ways my teacher visited me in a dream and hit me with a huge amount of energy/concsiousness that shook me very deeply, among other things it sent the message that "we can do/have that too." Many Taoists use both approaches as part of their spiritual work, and I'm sure those who only use the shaking can go just as deeply into mediative realms as do Yogis and other like minded folk.

Hope I've been helpful, and good luck!
