So I had last week off from work so I decided that I would take a mini road trip to hit up a bunch of biking spots. I figured I havent had a nice photo whoring thread in a while so now is a good time, so myself and others snapped some pics along the way. The trip started with a journey up to Plattsburgh, NY where I met up with my brother and we rode at Cadyville Park. The weather was kind of a ticking clock on this ride so I was only able to snap one pic of my brothers bike (right) and my bike (left) hanging out together while me indulged in a marijuana smoke break: I spent the night up in Plattsburgh and the following day we took a trip to the SUNY Plattsburgh College campus and fooled around for a couple hours. My brothers girlfriend was kind enough to snap some sweet pics: Scoping out a rock wall at the pond: Myself riding said rock wall: Cruising around the pond:
My brother having some fun on a staircase: Other random stairs and ledges etc... So after Plattsburgh I decided to head down to Moreau Lake State park and tackle the trails on the mountain just west of the lake. Here is my route (grey), which is about 8-10 miles and takes me up about an 800' climb to the top of the mountain than continues to roller coaster in elevation all the way around it:
I was riding alone so no riding shots were available but here are the views from the mountain. I started at a similar elevation to the river below: After Moreau Lake I headed East to Mass. to do some downhilling at Jiminy Peak. I was only able to get one trail shot though before my battery died on my phone. Its a nice steep rooty slippery section that is a blast:
Then after Jiminy I headed up to my home trails about 30 min north of where I live. The SMBA trails, which is the plot of land the mountain bike association I belong to is responsible for maintaining. My buddy snapped a couple good shots from the ride: Here's my buddy riding down a rock: And a couple of skierdood on the rocks: I look really mean here ha ha: Anyways that rounds out my little adventure, it was a blast, but my legs are still a bit jello like, anyways hope you enjoy the scenery.
thats awesome man, looks like a blast! i bought a couple kayaks early this spring and i've been having a lot of fun with those all summer... took them to zoar valley in new york with a friend last weekend, there are some crazy river rapids there. despite the water being freezing and tipping a few times, it was a blast. we packed a cooler with lunch and afterwards we smoked a bowl and ate lunch in a small clearing in one of the forest trails... good times. this upcoming weekend i will be going to Arkwright Falls doing some hiking (provided the weather is nice). if you walk for about 3.5 miles, there is a ridiculous waterfall which is suitable for jumping off... its a blast. the scenery and such is amazingly beautiful... bring a friend and an 8th of weed.. no better way to spend a summer day glad you had a good time on your adventure man!
Getting back to the car after riding at Moreau State park so I could change out of my clothes which were completely drenched with sweat even my shoes were wet. Nah I'd have to say either the sense of accomplishment of climbing to the top of the mountain at Moreau by bike, or the QT I got to spend with my brother riding is always a great time, since I dont get to see him too often.
I'll have to get the original from my buddy and not the quality comprimised facebook version but yeah, he has a nack for taking a solid picture.
On the bike in those pics for the first pics I had Maxxis Minions front and rear, then in the last pics the rear tire is a Kenda Telonix 2.4 because I ripped a hole through the rear Minion. On my other bike my XC bike I have a Maxxis High Roller up front and a Maxxis Crossmark in the rear.
Thank's everyone! Yeah it was a blast for sure. I almost forgot about this pic, my brother and I getting silly post ride:
riding that rock wall is pretty bad ass did you jump your bike up there? im about to go on a bike ride too....to work
