I love these cake shows they have on cable and it looks like so much fun. I'm really considering going to culinary school when I have the money to go to school because it looks like so much fun. I love making pretty things and I love cakes. And can you imagine how much money those really fancy, really pretty cakes bring in? I love cooking.
Me too, I love Ace of Cakes, Cake Boss, and various cake competitions. My mom wants ot be a pastry chef, haha.
I'd really just love to cook, but Chef Ramsay has sort of turned me off of the whole chef idea...I think I'll just be a baker.
I know this girl that worked for Giant Eagle and they had a program to send people to school for cake decorators, she made $11.00hr to start when she graduated. I dont know if you have Giant Eagle stores where you live, but maybe some other big store food chain could have them, like meat cutter programs....
I'm just probably going to look into going to culinary school in Dallas if we ever find our feet to get out of the area for awhile. I can't imagine even being out of school for 4 years will hold me back that far in a place like that.
why do people say they have to save money to go to school? this idea is foreign to me. kr, when you turn 23 it's the best time to get need-based grants from the gov't and subsidized loans.
I was planning on trying to get the grants, definitely. But I have to save money to move to Dallas. That's really where Daniel and I want to end up most, but it's not cheap to live down there and it's going to be a crapload more expensive than the cost of living here.
We've been watching Cake Boss and have determined that Charm City makes much better cakes. Probably because they aren't a bunch of angry Italians that spend so much time bitching at each other and arguing over whose fault shit is instead of fixing their mistakes and going on.
it can be pretty tough down in the kitchens. i did some work at a cake shop once and got to make peoples wedding cakes with the head cake decorator. it was awesome and they offered me a job but said I'd have to start from the bottom and climb up to the top. I had no restrictions access to the massive fridge where all the cakes were kept!!! mmmmmmm.
