Because it's in response to the other healthcare threads - I want to see what the regulars of this forum have to think about it =)
Well look at the top ot the forum: This should be posted in the Politics section: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=36 The health insurance debate has nothing to do with Iraq or any other war except as to funding. And you weren't really pitting war funding against health care.
That is one person's interpretation of the bill, and it's inaccurate. Most of the bill consists or legal speak and cannot really be interpreted by most people correctly, unless they are versed in those areas. They always make bills this way so the general public cannot fully understand them. What I do know about the bill is that it WILL force people, directly or indirectly, into the government system, it WILL ration care, it WILL eliminate choice, it WILL coincide with the issuance of a national ID card, it WILL give the government direct access to your financial records, and it WILL cover ALL people, including those who are not in the country lawfully. Basically 1984 in a nutshell and then some. It will also help to further bankrupt the system, which is already bankrupt and broken.
Ohh ok, I see now. I don't always pay enough attention to what thread I read posts in suppose, I thought the healthcare threads I was reading before were in here, now it seems they are in fact in Politics - thanks for the help.
Well...Like adults, that is asking us to be more than our elected officials are, but I will try. Things Obama has right: 1. No doubt something needs to be done with SSN, Medicade, Medicare & Those underinsured or uninsured. 2. If we sit and do nothing, nothing will be done and this is not like my wife's family, if you do not talk about something, it is not there. 3. He was not my choice, but I did not hate that we elected our First Black American, he is American right, did we get the birth certificate issue resolved? Things Obama Has Wrong: 1. There is not 46 Million people under or uninsured. Those numbers are bogus. When this was taken, mostly in the latest census of 2006 I believe. It did not differintiate from those like myself. I am insured, but through my wife's Military retirement. So the way the question was asked, it did not allow for those to elaborate on why they did not have insurance. Many young people opt out of paying medical insurance with their employers because as we all did, we were invincible. Those are therefore counted as uninsured. 2. At least 12 million of that number is suspected and expected to be people who SHOULD not qualify for medical benefits anyway 3. The best think tanks believe the number is much closer to 16-20 million over the 46 Million. We have many programs that even these people are qualified for and get, Medicade for sure is a big portion of that. If the government is/was already providing free insurance, they were counted as UNINSURED or UNDERINSURED. All that said, we are the greatest nation in the world, The United States and I like to put our friends to the North, Canada. We still have a problem and we must, we must take care of those less fortunate. How do we do it, I do not know, but at least President Obama is doing something. Nothing will be in stone, it will always be a living entity that can change. I am not sure my Tricare, Presently managed by Humana, changing I think to Aetna, is exactly what our congress has, but I AM TOTALLY HAPPY with my medical benefits. However, I have to feel for those that do not have what I have and need it. Our tax system is Progressive, that is the facts. I believe if the number of 30 billion that will be needed from tax payers is correct, those of us that make 250K or more a year, can kick in a little extra. Do I like it (I am not in that 250K anymore for 8 years now) All I know is I do not have the answers. I would like us to all but do away with the IRS and no private person would ever need to fill out a tax return ever again. Have a Flat 18% tax on everything we buy. Be it a gallon / liter of petro, to furniture, to fast food. 18 cents and a flat tax is a good place to start. Those with more money, spend more money, those with less, spend less. It serves as a progressive tax system in itself, and everyone knows what everyone else is paying, plain and simple. That may need to be moved to 24 cents or 24% of every dollar spent. We could get used to it to have not only the continue best health care system in the world, Otherwise Kings, Queens and top Diplomatic people around the world would not come to our Clinics for Medical care. With that said, I do not have the answers.....I am more conservative than I am center.
