Hey guys, well.. ugh. Well, I took a shower last night, and my hair was REALLY nasty, like.. super oily, dirty (I was working on a car for a few hours before I started my dreads, so I got grime and yuckiness in it to begin with), and I still can't find any residue free shampoo, so I used some VO5 shampoo, that didn't have very much scent at all, and I didn't condition.

And as you know, I have these twist looking things in it (Back combed lightly, and pulled into two strands, twisted each strand - then twisted them together like a rope). Well it worked pretty cool on my roots and such, but I didn't like walking around looking like I had braids, so what I did after I dried my hair with a ShamWOW (Yeah, it's awesome and works) and blowdried the rest, I saw that two of my locks started to become a cream filled puff :( totally untwisted, and just chilling there like "Hey, what's up." :(

So I untwisted a few locks of hair on my left side (Including the two poofers) but left the rubber bands on the tips, and started to back comb until they got thicker to where I wanted. I palmrolled + 'Clockwise Rolled' (Dunno if that's a term), got the frizzies down a bit, and all looked well. Well it still did nothing to the one main poofer really, but it pushed it down a bit.

So, I know that backcombing again is bascially starting over, but is this what happens? Am I gonna be okey? I didn't do the rest of them, but since I did these... it looks like my locks will be far bigger (Very good), and it fills my tam hat out more wich is also good..

I'll post pics if I get batteries, lemme try and find some. I know I sound like I'm ignorant, but I need a bit of support, 'cause I feel like I'm doing nothing but having fuzzy hair

sounds like you're stressing over them way too much.

wear your tam and try not to pay attention to them.

we all have frizzies for a long time (forever) so don't waste your sanity trying to tame them.

I don't see why and how dreading your hair has become such a complicated process. twisting, ripping, shampooing, rubber bands, lizard oil and the urethra of a monkey for smoothing and calming frizzies. Take out the bands, throw away the V05, melt your comb and don't touch your hair for months -- oh, and stop fretting and forget you have hair entirely. I guarantee you it would solve all your problems.

I'm not certain...but I think we may just make it through it, if we all pull together as a team.

I asked you NOT to share my secrets!!! :toetap05:

On a side note... V05 is likely ont a great idea, but can understand why you used it. My dreads were puffy for over a month....

Just live your life without looking at your hair for the next two months. Put on hats... wear headbands or let the puppies breathe some air... No more touching, twisting and rebackcombing. In two months, you will have some awesome looking dreads starting to form.

Hang in there.... In two months you will read ppl's posts like yours and you will wonder why you worried so much. We've actually had members apologize for doing this and I will take this moment to apologize when I came and posted about my newly backcomb dreads looking like a palm tree. There ya go! :cheers2: Hi Five!!! :)

Come in here, Dear boy, have a cigar.
    You're gonna go far,
    You're gonna fly high,
    You're never gonna die,
    You're gonna make it, if you try;
    They're gonna love you.

Like the others have said, just let go and let them do their thing--your hair knows what it's doing :D. I've found that to be one of the big lessons to be learned from the dready journey--letting go of any notion of control and letting them just BE. That, and how to be patient. No worries--they're gonna turn out just fine!

For true. Today is my three months, and my first week was hell. I worried like no other, and for no reason. Now I just do whatever (which means nothing) And I laugh at some of my older posts. And by laugh at, I mean I am embarrassed by them.

Well it wasn't so bad at first, though as the days went on, and I worked on the car again I couldn't stand it anymore. And thanks for the support everyone, I feel like an idiot freaking out about it, lol. I'm gonna backcomb the back of my head, the ones that aren't locking up, and just chill. D:

    It helps alot
