dont hate me =] ive been offered a job, doing bar work at this years v festival. when i saw it i was all happy and wow, im ganna work v fest! etcetc i went to the interview and whatever. had an email today with further details with shift times and meeting places etc, but i have to confirm whether i want it on monday 17th its £5 an hour, which is slightly more than minimum wage and im not sure if ill be taxed on it or not. I might work friday & saturday, or saturday & sunday, or all 3 days, i dont know until i phone on monday. the shifts are friday 11.30am - 2am & 6pm - 2am saturday 10.30am - 11pm/midnight & 5.30pm - 2am sunday 10.30am - 11pm/midnight & 5.30pm - midnight and id get one or two half hour, unpaid breaks per shift its weekend camping in a staff area, with only slightly better facilities than the public.. but tbf im not fussed about peeing behind a bush =] we've gatta take our own food cause we dont get much offered (a packed lunch and a hot meal on the night OR vouchers for food vans) basically.... i cant decide if i want to go for it.. purely for the experience of doing it, and getting over my fear of getting off my arse and doing something, and new people and new places etc i dont know if its worth it? i dont know anyone thats doin it, so ill be a loner all weekend.. im not too great making friends what would you lot do?
your skills are worth more..i would hold out for something corporate in the 100,00o a year range..its obvious with this job offer that hundreds more are around the corner
well thats the thing, it is only a shitty weekend bar job, people mainly do it for the experience.. and it would be fun, but itd also be exhausting
i think ive decided that i will.. i know ill regret it if the weekend rolls around and im not in a muddy field somewhere!
I've done festivals Smelly on my own they're brill and you all pull together because they work you like fucking dogs so it's easy to make friends. The only downside is that you won't see any pay for a long time. I'd say go for it. It's a great experience and you get to see bands in your break.
do it! don't go with the thoughts that you won't make friends, you may! It sounds like it'll be lots of fun and a new experience. who's playing v fest this year?
YAY smellsss doo iiiiitt!! It'll be soooo awesome!! The festivals I've looked at only take volunteers, so this is a gem Yayyayaya glad you are dooing it
