I've been home and have completely lost my voice in the past 6 hours, and have thrown up twice. it's almost 6am and I can't fall asleep because I keep feeling like I'm going to stop breathing in my sleep or something

I looked at my throat in the mirror in the light and the sides of my throat seem to be swollen (swollen glands or whatever I guess)

    is this serious?

I think this is bad karma for treating my body so poorly lately. :(

Most of all, keep drinking liquids, not cold, but room temperature or warmer, especially water or herbal teas.

But first, let the warm salt water gargle take effect before you drink anything else. Salt kills germs. You might have a strep throat infection, in which case, you may need to be on an antibiotic.

    Hope you're feeling better, honey.

(Which reminds me, hot tea with honey and lemon, and if you wish, a shot of whiskey, called a "hot toddy". That's what I do. It helps.) :)

If I were more motivated I could lay some pipe... That usually puts people to sleep pretty good...

For real though. You may wanna get checked out. I've tried to fight strep before and lost big time... I had to go see a doc and I never do that.... Such a damn waste though... Told 'em I was allergic to penicillin and what'd they give me?

Strep is nothin' to f around with. It can spread to other parts of the body, affect the heart, etc.

If you can't swallow, feels like a lump in your throat, it may be strep, or something similar.

I had it once. Nothing worked. I even tried gargling with hydrogen peroxide. Nasty tasting stuff.

    Eventually antibiotics did the trick.

Today, if I couldn't get to a doctor, I'd also try gargling with a few drops of tea tree oil in water. Just remember not to swallow it.

Yup. Almost killed my brother... They had to give him a pretty hefty shot and told him another 24 hours of going untreated would've put him at the end of his rope.

Guess my immune system is a bit stronger cause we got it the same time but I went the next day with no shot. Still I wasn't taking my chances after the message they gave him

thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm off most of tomorrow so I'll try to get in to see the doctor first thing in the morning. :)

As for the salt water thing... it's giving temporary relief but nothing permanent. I think I'll go try some tea.

Of course it's gotta be the days I have a million things to do that I end up feeling like this

It must suck having a sore throat and throwing up. It must be painful.
