    How old is she?

I want a dog, but the requirements are that they are chill and not bark-y.

    she's a year and a half.

Cocker spaniels are dumb and hyper, but super friendly and loyal. she'll stop barking as much when she gets older

Border Collies are the best, smartest dog. Not just my opinion, either.

I know huskies are very high strung, but I have always wanted one of them too. Only with a bit of property though.

*gasp* It's a Cocker! And it's funny that you guys say that Cockers are hyper and dumb, the two I had as a child were probably the best, calmest, and smartest dogs I ever had. My parents had one for a couple of years before I was born and when I was born, I was his baby, lol. He slept underneath my bassinet and if I even made a peep, he'd make my parents come and check on me. He was soooo smart, he was the only dog we were ever able to train, he even answered the phone. He was my best buddy, but Cockers are really prone to horrible health because of so much inbreeding, and he ended up with epilepsy and started to get a distemperment. They put him down when my mom was pregnant with my baby brother because I had accidentally stepped on him and he bit my ear. It wasn't a bad bite, didn't even break the skin, but they were just afraid he was too old and sick to handle a new baby.

We also had a Cocker Spaniel from the time I was 6 until 13 or 14. She was my best friend, too. We didn't train her much, though. But she was such a good good dog. But alas, she also had horrible health as she got older and she ended up with lymphoma and we put her down when I was in junior high.

So, just a forewarning, but keep a good eye on your dog's health. Cockers get sick pretty easy, so watch out for any warning signs. They also are very prone to ingrown eyelashes and cataracts as they get older. But they're such wonderful dogs, they're worth having for however long you do have them.

mine had Cherry Eye in both her eyes. is that what you mean by ingrown eyelashes?
my buddy Bill had a cocker that had back leg problems. she was like twelve years old when she was put down.

No, cherry eye is just another one of those eye problems they tend to have. But my dogs never had that.
