have any of you ever gotten one of these for your state? i've never seen it before until today, it says Issued by The National Weather Service Philadelphia, PA 8:52 am EDT, Mon., Aug. 10, 2009 ... AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING... THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION HAS ISSUED AN AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY... IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING. AN AIR QUALITY ADVISORY MEANS THAT AIR QUALITY WITHIN THE REGION MAY APPROACH OR EXCEED UNHEALTHY STANDARDS. like... what causes this? that's pretty nasty haha.
They have one of these every day that it is hot in Toronto. There's a visible haze over the city's skyline because of all the pollution and overpopulation in the greater Toronto area.
no it's not i've been outside once today and i went 'yuck' that's why i didn't get an alpaca :toetap05:. i'm about to go to the store though, wish my luck hopefully i don't breathe any lovely tri-state pollution!
they are amazing and we got it for free for like 30-45 minutes too you should go to one it's amazing feeling, the dude was coming around giving us message stuff and messages it was great.
when Philly (or any large city) gets real humid like it right now without much wind the car and city air pollutions stay in the city and aren't blown away. On a day like today if you were driving down I95 from the north (toward the city) you would see a brown/black haze over the city. If you have 2 or 3 days like this the city will issue a warning against exercising outside (running). It happens every summer.
You're downwind of the city. And pollution that does leave the city ends up by you. It's just that the humidity keeps it lower and there aren't a lot of winds right now.
oh snap, shits gone down, if you breath any air outside during a air quality alert, you get really fucked up ( vision and reaction time ) so id say you should go out and smoke a bowl and see if you start trippin
damn, i'm surprised you've never heard of this, especially in a big city. at least in big (well, mid sized ) cities in the midwest, it's rather common in the summer, especially in august the heat, the overwhelming humiditiy (clay soil doesnt absorb rain well, so it turns to mud, evaporates and hangs around in the air at 90% humidity most of the summer ), pollutants (mostly depending on emissions from cars and trucks and factories and such), etc. can make the air hard to breath, especially for seniors and infants. its not a full-summer event here, but it happens somewhat regularly. at least a few times per summer in columbus, oh. not having tv here in bloomington, i don't know if there's ever been one here this summer. if there has i bet it was today....sweltering heat, and over the top humidity....its so humid here i break a sweat going to class in 60-70 degree weather....you can imagine how bad it gets in august AND it drizzled today, so even more humidity.............
