Two years ago we decided never to use credit again unless we were able to pay it off each month and a little over a year ago we decided to save our money to buy a house- without a mortgage. So, in a little over a year we have managed to save $22,000- coupled with the 20 grand my mother-in-law had put back for us to buy a house we decided a couple weeks ago we forgo saving the additional ten or twenty grand we would need for a starter house and take out a small mortgage. Well, we found a cute three bedroom with an all new kitchen, nice yard, etc that was going through foreclosure for only 52,000- this house is unbelievable for the price and the previous owners had paid $135,000 for it. Well, we were just approved for the loan... it not being much defiantly helped. I never knew until we decided to look for a house how much throwing away money by renting bothered me. So, just wanted to share my joy. =D Will be posting pictures of it soon. (and btw just posted new pics of self in...well, where ever pics. here go).... Also wanted to thank all the people out there who took out loans they couldn't afford. =D
Thanks... =) For the longest time I truly thought I'd have bad luck forever but this past year has changed my mind about life.
Congratulations. That's awesome that you were able to earn most of the money yourselves! That's where a lot of people go wrong.
Ty. =) Yeah, I agree. Well, we were lucky in that way because my income is not needed to pay the bills. So, when I started my own business all that money (well, almost) was able to be put back as "house money".
Although I'm fairly certain that was at least partially a joke, would it be hipforums if that is not how the place operates? (at least towards some people). Well, anyways Matt is defiantly one of my favorite two or three people here... but he/you won't be anymore if I do not receive an email this time.
hurrah for home ownership! i just got my first ever home too (though it cost a fair bit more).... good for you!
Congratulations On Your New Pad..:cheers2:. A Few Months Ago You Were Going Through A Pretty Tough Time, And It's Great That You Took The Time To Tell Us That Your Life Has Now Made A Big Turn For The Positive... Look Foward To Seeing The Pics. Cheers Glen.
Well, thank you everyone. It's nice to come back here and see positivity Actually glenglen... that was a year ago or 11 months ago but yea, I know what you mean. I feel like I've been making up for lost time this past year (from quite a few years of doing nothing but partying) and since turning 29 on Monday... well, that feeling of having to make up time has gotten more so (29 has been the 1st bday that has bothered me so far)..... Well, couple other changes since last year around this time... I have completed my 2nd triathlon, started my own (very small) business and I've finally made it to my goal weight, which has been 70 pounds lost total. (actually now what I'm trying to do is STAY the same weight so I don't have problems... or more problems getting pregnant...) I also went from about six months ago, when I cut off 90 percent of my friends...changed my phone number n all that- well, back then it seemed like I'd never meet people who don't wanna get drunk all the time or do this or that and who are actually interested in doing things... seeing music, going to flea markets, hiking, jogging, day trips... So, I spent quite a bit of time just resigned to not knowing people, especially females like that.... cause in R/L I've never met a guy who ACTUALLY wanted to be just friends... but now I've met three girls my age that are exactly like that.... we do fun things instead of just sitting around, we smoke now and then... we drink a couple microbrews now n then... but as for the things that all my old "friends" were interested in....well, I finally found people that are different. It's great.
