Was he a genious?or just went insane on acid lol....Iam starting to read up on him and my god he was doing some out of control type things...At one performance he was on stage and started detuning his guitar during a live pink floyd show,he had some balls lol..Again genious?or insanly artistic dude who was nuts on acid?

I find him to be a insanely artisitic artist, he did die though, so Rest in Peace

    Glad to hear thoughts :)

Hes DEFINITELY a genius. I wonder what pink floyd would have evolved into if he never left and dave gilmour never came in, too bad things changed. To even make a debut album THAT GREAT (like The Doors did in my opinion), you have to imagine how good they would have turned into if he was the one leading the band.

Once he left and dave gilmour came in, their sound was still 'psychedelic' but it changed alot, however I think they lost their 'sound' after dark side of the moon, definitely.

Syd was definatly the one who got the band on its feet. He was pretty much the heart of Pink Floyd in the begining. So i say: genius.

agreed with both above me. but you need to realize it happened the way it was supposed to, there would be no atom heart, dark side, or animals, and meddle (correction?) if gilmore never came and in my mind it think both were great and if you were around to see both they sweet. my dad said they were awesome in diff ways

    The story goes:

1966 - Syd (19 years old), along with Storm thorgeson and Ian Moore, was visiting his friend Bob Gate in his garden in Cambridge. Thorgeson and Moore had laid out hundreds of sugar cubes in rows and were treating each one with 2 drops of liquid LSD from a vial. The acid was concentrated and as they licked the sugar granules from their fingers they became hopelessly confused giving some cubes a double dose and others none at all.

During this time, Syd took his first trip. Story goes he found 3 objects, which he sat down and stared at for twelve hours: an orange, a plum, and a matchbox. The plum became the planet Venus and the orange was Jupiter. Syd said he travelled between them in outer space. His trip came to an abrupt end when Ian Moore feeling hungry, ate Venus in one bite . Moore recalls Syd's face: "Total shock for a few seconds, then he just grinned." From then on acid became Syd's drug of choice.

It was documented, its in a psycadellic vault video chamber type thing lol....What i want to know if it was his lsd usage that drove him the way he went on stage and all the other antics that lead to leaving pink floyd indefinatyly
