Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Blurb by Shale June 25, 2009 First off, last time I checked Rottentomatoes, only one-fifth of their reviewers gave this movie a fresh tomato. Again, I think they fail to see it for what it is - a movie based on a 1984 set of toys for little boys to create their own fantasy realm. If you cannot tap into that inner child, you will hate this movie for being too loud, too unbelievable, too lame, and too little story. BUT, if you have the vivid imagination of an 8-year-old boy, who can see a real Autobot or Decepticon in a piece of hinged, colored plastic, then you will love this movie as I did. I liked the original movie when it came out two years ago and said pretty much the same thing. Shale's Review of Transformers in July 2007 http://www.extremegossip.com/showthread.php?p=21004#post21004 I just rewatched that movie this week and recalled how juvenile the humor was, how it played to pre-adolescent emotions and how simplistically it delineated the good and bad characters. This movie is based on a frikkin kid's toy - what can you expect? I mean the whole list of characters and their part in the story can be found at Hasbro which is mentioned in the opening credits. http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/shop/browse.cfm Go read my blurb from the original movie and there isn't much more to say. This one follows nicely. Optimus Prime and the Autobots are working with the military team they helped in the original movie defeat Megatron but the Decepticons come back starting a bigger war with a vengeance. Sam Witwicky (Shia La Beouf) is going off to college but he becomes a key player and his girlfriend Mikaela (Megan Fox) is here too and gets involved in the melee. Megan Fox still lives up to her name. (You should see her run in that top) Oh, and don't forget Agent Simmons (John Turturro) - he got canned from his agency in the last movie but he is a go-to guy when it comes to Transformers. Agent Simmons & Sam There is a new character, Ramon Rodriguez (Leo Spitz) Sam's would be roommate if they had spent a night in the dorm before battling transformers. Ramon sitting in Bumblebee (as a Camaro) I think this movie has grown up a bit also - perhaps appealing more to the adolescent audience than to the pre-adolescents of the first. The new love between Sam and Mikaela has lost its high school hesitancy and is now more established. However, there are some funny moments that would particularly appeal to a teen (and older). As with any sequel, there are bigger and better FX, more and bigger things get really blown up. Also there are more Transformer gadgets wreaking havoc from bug sized to gargantuan. Those who've read my blurbs know how I hate movies longer than two hours. This one was 2 and a half, and altho I coulda tightened it up by taking out some throwaway scenes, it had so much continuous action that the time did not bother me. If you liked the first Transformers you should like this movie. If you like explosions, mayhem, big metal monsters fighting each other and trashing whole cities while doing it, you should like this movie. This is a movie where you leave your adult impatiently waiting out on the sidewalk and let your 15-year-old go in and enjoy.
It's on the same level as the first, no better, no worse really. I personally preferred the first, but this was still cool, I enjoyed it. I grew up with transformers, I've always been a fan.
Fuckin' fags. Can't seem to get past the movie to see the true beauty. Megan Fox is a trap, totally. Shia, he's cute, but totally not my type. It's those giant robots. Oh God, if I could get fucked by one of those things.
