    Hi Everyone

I guess the subject gets across that I am new to the forum. Actually new to Hip Forums all together. I have wanted dreads for a very long time. I am on a mission now to have dreads and have them as mature as possible before August 2011. My husband and I will be going to Wacken Open Air that summer and then try to start a family. I'd like them to be pretty well mature by then so that when little ones come along I am able to give them the attention they need and not worry about my hair.

I am currently growing my hair out from chin length to shoulder length or so before I dread. I am just looking for some advice as to what you guys think are the best ways to prepare and get started with dreads.

    Thanks
    StarKhild

    Oh silly.
The reason most people get dreads is because they are a care free hair style.

Anyway, if you set a date you want them to be 'pretty' by, you will only disappoint yourself. The easiest way is neglect, but most people that want insta-dreads usually backcomb. To me, it is all the same..backcombing and the like only section your hair to how you want it, the process is the same otherwise.

    Welcome!

You dont have to worry about dreads, ever, if you want tight mature locks, dont touch them and theyl turn out fine

well, first i would say read the stickies (FAQ) and decide which method. if you are giving yourself two years, i would say, start with a non-residue shampoo (i recommend dr. bronners, but there are other good ones) and stop combing. but, because it seems like you have short hair, you probably won't see any progress for a very long time.

dreads = time, you want them for wacken 11' so pretty much 2 years from like last week, so you need to start asap, more time = more mature.
