Years ago, I was prescribed xanax. I took it daily for about five months. I knew nothing about them and prescription pills are really the only drugs I just never got into. Or at least the last thing I would do recreationally. I was opiate naive then and opiate naive now but when I first started taking them I felt no different. They did not give me a high and did not help with my anxiety. After five months of taking them, I quit cold turkey. I hear you're supposed to get a really bad withdrawal when you stop taking them but that never happened to me. My boyfriend loves downers and opiates. He's given me xanax (recreationally), oxycontin, methadone and I even tried heroin once before. Nothing ever got me high. When I did heroin that one time, I did 3 packs which I hear is a lot for a first time user and it supposedly was good. Did nothing. I was just nodding out but that didn't feel pleasurable. I think I'll just stick to psychedelics and stimulants and stay away from opiates/downers.

It sucks that opiates affect you so negatively. They are the best thing nature/scientists ever created. Ha.

I guess some people have a body chemistry that totally rejects opiates... or they were born without a Mu receptor :p

You are my opposite, I think. I can't stand stimulants. Although, Xanax never helped my anxiety either, unless I took a bunch at a time.

Flutter, are you aware that Xanax is not an opiate? It's not really designed to create euphoria, but it's a relatively short acting benzodiazepine that is prescribed for anxiety and panic attacks. Many people get a mild and relaxing euphoria from it. I don't get that from xanax...just makes me tired and forgetful. Valium (another benzo) gives me some mild euphoria and works better and faster on my anxiety without the tiredness. I'm prescribed 10mg/day. Benzos have their own horrible and lengthy withdrawal, but since you were taking them therapeutically, this is probably why you didn't suffer when you stopped.

Opiates are much more addictive than benzos and far more euphoric. I love 'em! Why you don't get much out of them, I'm not exactly sure, but I'm betting it's just your biochemistry. A majority of people don't like how opiates feel. The foggy, sleepy, sick feeling. Even my 1st vicodin, yes 5mg...I was in love! I took it for a backache and noticed the lucid and just "good" feeling I had a 1/2 hour later. It's like I'd finally found what was missing in my brain. (I have manic depressive illness type II) ....but back to the point, you did get the effects of heroin, which was sleepiness since it's essentially morphine, diacetylmorphine rather...much more potent and euphoric. You're missing out on the warm fuzzies it brings, but you're also blessed that you won't get addicted and go through horrible withdrawals and addiction.

Sorry for the rant, but hope this helped. ;) Peace, y'all!

I enjoy kratom extracts, quite a bit! The semi synthetic isolates, but I like some spice with that. It's a lot safer to visualize the outdoors with this drug and it is not illegal and it beats prison booze. It's horrible what people in prison are forced to take, it's not legal. I don't think I get IV's, it seems that a muscle punch works just fine. It's a longer guessing game, a slower absorption and a hell of a lot safer if you aren't going to keep an IV in.
