it may have been stronger than an 8800GT at retail, but with the CUDA drivers they've gotten MUCH better.

    it's CRAZY.

they've released beta's, you can find out.

Lego case looks like a fire hazard.

there are much better ones out there, that was just the first one I grabbed on google that was embeddable.

edit: and definitely depends on the components, if it's an 80486 there is nothing they could do to start a fire in it short of pouring lighter fluid on it and lighting a match in it.

What if there's an electrical surge that hits it?

Don't know much about CUDA, but even if they have gotten better, $100 difference is still too much. You get much more cost-benefit with the ATIs.

you're looking at the wrong vendors.

PSU's used to have breakers. or fuses. good ones still do. they all used to.

Maybe, but ATI is always cheaper.

    helps sometimes.

What driver did they use for that?

because Seriously, HUGE difference between the standard drivers and CUDA drivers

standard drivers it works like a BDB (big dumb bomb)

CUDA drivers it works like the 128 or 256 processors that it is.

It doesn't say. And from what I have read, CUDA is still an unused technology as far as the gaming industry goes, and doesn't so much deal with rendering and graphics as with game physics.

it CAN be used for physics. but it is useful for anything, right now they're building desktop supercomputers with it.

Don't expect to get those numbers in Linux with ATI. I would NEVER pay for another ATI item again after how shitty their drivers are in Windows and Linux.

For example, I am running an ATI X1600 which isn't even supported by the proprietary ATI driver. So I am using the open-source ATI (non-hd) driver and xorg1.6, max FPS I get on glxgears is 300. When I was using the proprietary driver I'd see 1100 easily.

nVidia is the only way to go in Linux. Their drivers are much better. I'd rather have a 6800 over a 4850, just because I know it'll work flawless in any OS.

That is unusual, even in 24/7 overclocked folding and gaming rigs.

Are you installing these mobo's yourself?
What brand mobo's do you use?
Do you tinker with things after it is installed?
