I am here in Newfoundland for the summer, and I've been told by many locals that there are shrooms growing in the woods where I am.

Just for fun, I want to try to pick some and dry them to see if they are legit.

I'm wondering if there are any tips on identifying which are psilocybin mushrooms and which are not.

Also what are some tips on identifying the "angel of death" mushrooms???

Thank you for all your help.

there is no possible way for anyone to tell you how to spot a psilocybin mushroom for sure. your best bet is to get a field guide and look up what shrooms grow in your area through shroomery.org...
read the stickies in a forum before you post in the future because something like this is stickied, it pretty mush tells you tan is generally a good color, blue bruising on the "stem" or stipe when handled is generally good and hollow stems. however these do not ensure a magic mushroom, they are only good indicators

    Hi chaps and chapettes

Noob here looking for advice on identifying these, that i found out in the forest behind my house.

If it helps, i live in Scotland.

The large yellow/pinkish ones and the small red ones are from the same patch in the forest.

I thought they may be fly agaric, especially the red ones?

    Thanks in advance

yes go to the Shroomery's mushroom hunting forum with pics and a sporeprint. this is the only way you will even come close to a decent ID. don't ever eat anything you arent 100% sure isn't poisonous.

to big muchaco...those red ones are not amanita. likely a species of russula known for it's emetic and stomach upsetting effects. you will be sick if you eat that. the other ones im not sure.

white cap, white stem. white spores, shroom usually falls apart upon touch.. The stem isnt very strong and will snap at the slightest push..

Do not eat this, you will die..

I am from NL - here's the score:

    - only appear in NL AFTER the first frost of the year (Oct)
    - found many places
    - small, dark underneath, nipple on top, sort of yellow in color
    - 30-100 will take you on a journey
    - most people ingest by tea or mix with food
