    nailskeg,
How's it going. I've been busy as hell. We held a Homeless Veterans Stand Down a couple of weeks ago, about 300 people showed up. We had amusical group "The Insta Gators--- we're all getting a little long in the tooth. What's this Iridology Classes? I can't tell you how happy I am to hear how well many of us are doing. Just got off the phone with "Pices Patty." They, the administrators, have changed my assignment. I'm now charged with herlping to develop, "The Faces of Homelessness Speakers' Bureau." There are a lot of people out there who are getting the short end of the stick with all this government "shit"--- gov't still sucks, generally a bunch of idiots--- give the people jobs not wellfare--- they're turning ouir country into a third-world parasite like so much of the rest of the world. I text Sarah Palin to start a third party and anybody else that raises their little "pin-head up for me to take a verbal shot at. I feel like I haven"t really changed all it takes "For evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing." As usual what to do is the question, but freedom is something you must get up every day and steruggle for, Franz Fannon (sp-?) "the Battle of Algeres"--- collectives of people working together is one thing, trying to fource us all into one mold will never work, unless there is a big change in people. Something I wrote in the Good Eath Statement: You can't sacrifice the group for the individual and you can't sacrifice individual for the group--- a hard balance to maintain.
Enough of, "off government"--- the thought police might be just around the corner. It never worried in the past and I'm totally parinoid today (smile). Texas seems to be a good place to be today. How are theser economic times hitting our people?

    Hey Spud,
looked up your profile. Yes I remember you--- not well, I was always running around like an idiot. Talked on the phone with Ranger and Pices Patty and am slowly getting back in touch with "family."
There were several of us involved in creating The Good Earth--- Cyril, Mama Kitten, JimmyMac, myself, Dana, Jami Heneley and family, Linda Penn (Penelope Waits), Ranger and Wendy came in all about the same time.
The thinking behind the idea was that after the "Death of the Hippie" in the summer of
1967 or 8 young people were still flocking to SF and the trip had turned ugly. The idea behind the Good Earth was to create a safe place for new arruvals in the Haight. The idea was, No membership, per say. We all belong to the good earth you cannot join , by existace you were already a member, choice and death were the alternatives. There were too many rules set up by others--- mainly government. The world was changing and in the process of living togethetr each of us and the group would work out the dynamics of the future--- a place of safety, to get your head together, and hopefully find your vocation, and enjoy your life. Ranger and I were talking about this the other day on the phone (I'm still waiting to hear back from him--- someday--- we never reaklly got a chance to solidify our thinking and offer the hel[p we invisioned--- police, drugs, court and politics we're on us like white on bread. We were in tghe business of "sacrament" attempting to create our own economic source of income--- not livinmg off the State--- Some thing work others don't.
I was really "bummered" there at the end. I am extremely happy to hear many are doing well. There were and are and will be good things coming out of that mix--- the future is yet to be.
    Love God and stay high.
PS: As trite as it may sound to some, Power to The People. Never truer than today.

I get way to much turbulence from, the most pointless things. I got into the hippie scene, reading a book about the first SEALs, something about a banana. Maybe it was another Nam book, something about people smoking bananas. Banana peels, ya it was a SEAL book. Wow, someone has throat cancer that must be a real bitch to be a shaman and have a poor body. I don't know why we do react in states of delusion, I think I am so very Glad I missed the 60's......but it's so right in front of me. I hated to be blamed by a Marine Intelligence Officer, for people spitting on Veterans. It's to damn hard to kill one person or to kill everyone, I never made sense out of my delusions.....these are not my hearts.

I never found more DMT ever than in war, ever!

    The HUNT
    (A Dana poem)

    Let us pause
    beneath the tree
    through whose
    canopy
    of clothed branches
    the moon
    winks
    to share the moment.

    Come,
    let us talk
    of love
    and eternity.

    In eternity
    we
    will live
    forever.

    As for love,
    that is the crayon
    that paints
    the colors of life.

    Now
    fill our lungs
    with the smell of musk,
    of open desire.
    And let the lance
    of my desire
    pierce
    the folds of your creation.

    Then together
we will reach for the stars.
    Like two flaming comets
    join our bodies,
    the vehicles of our quest,
    and burn across the sky.

    Until exhausted
    we fall,
    smoldering
    into the valley.

    A Stacey poem

I am sorry all of your recipes sound like a military operation going to shit. I like your weather reports, it expresses well........the real problems with family rotting and me still as concerned about a plant as a person....but the plants are far more forgiving.

Ya that is some water, trusting your own big mind. I don't mind being sprayed down myself, it's the touching that is very sincere.

    Stacey,
You were the Godfather of Good Earth, the peacemaker. So many trips went down around you. Yes you were busy, there were like 500 ppl calling your attention constantly.

You helped me out a time or two :) It was you that threw the I-Ching when we had family meetings. I was so young, just 20 went I came to GE. I was at the Diggers for a short time in 67, then was in verious places around The Haight, before I found GE in 70, well untill it found me.

I learned a lot, mostly of what not to do 'anymore' :p. Seems like all my rowdy friends have rowdyed on down. I certenly have. I just live the FarmLife now, and do Iridology and tend to my herbs. I married a Farmer 25 yrs now and we've had our little farm here for 20 yrs. I don't think I could live anyother way now.

To live off the land and own yourself and your time is much better then giving it away to the man. Making them rich while you struggle.

Being part of "The Nature of Things" opens up new avenues to explore that are fullfilling and Divine. It connects you will the Godhead of self relience and continuation/revivel of Spirit.

I am not surprized that you are still doing your part for humanity. It sounds like you still have your heart in the right place along with good thinking. You were alway very noble, I always felt good energy from you.

Well back to my canning, the Okra isn't gonna pickle itself.

    Stacey,

I didn't think you would remember me too well. I saw you here and there (running around), but never really connected with you. Do you remember the time you had to calm the waters with a member of the Hell's Angels over stolen colors?

    Hey, Dude,
Memories are pathways to the future, and create a reality for those who come after us. The incident I'm thinking of was with the Sons' of Hawaii. The Good Earth always had an open door policy. Although we were constantly confronted by negative forces our combined energy created a "good karma" field and I see now we have persevered. I was bummered for a long time. When SF houses broke up I was pretty "bummered," I felt like I was "bad dirt" (smile), but hookong back up now, I'm very prowd of us all for keeping the faith.
Anyway, getting back to the original story, in all that time with all of the people in and out there were only a couple of bad apples that came through, and the police were able to only get one snitch through and we caught him. One of those bad apples insulted the Sons and implied The Good Earth would drive them out of the Haight--- he must have been high on PCP. We had a meet and cleared up the matter and I felt we ended up respecting each other. Several of the SF Chapter members use to come to the Blue Oak Street House. The various clubs and organizations were tight with each other in those days--- then cocaine got in the mix --- ruined things for awhile but I think we are now coming full circle. I feel I was eresponsible for a lot of the introduction of that trip. In defense I will say we all thought it was a "soft drug." Quite as its kept, I went through a hell of a trip with "crack-cocaine." I lived the hard end of the streets for many years. I'm now six years clean and write and speak for rehab programs. I'm now attached to the National Coalition for the Homeless developing "The Faces of Homelessness Speakers' Bureau. It seems like Nailskeg has held the fort down--- God bless her. I'm starting to think of creating our own website--- if nothing else we have shown our tanasity to hang in there

    Hey Girl,
I'm very happy for the life you and your husband have carved out for yourself--- a life I think many of us strive for. I'm a country boy myself, thank God--- you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take take country out of the boy--- thank God I'm a country boy.
All of us who care about what has been created here, "The Good Earth, 1963 and byond" by the things said and the effort you have put into keeping (us) alive owe you a debt of gratitude. I'm tel;ling you how greatful I am, and those of us who really care, should be thankful for your years of effort keeping our spirit alive, and the spirit of collective communalism--- not idiological socialism or the other non-human "isms." All these thoughts are opinions open for debate--- the internet is a great communicaion tool. We no longer need to be in the same spot to share, communicate, and continue the search for creating a better world for all of the Good Earth.
I'm very flattered that you might consider me the Godfather, I was only one of several. I'm just very noisy. I just never learned to keep my mouth shut--- keeps me in trouble, but that's alright The Godfather is the Godhead--- the Godperson (smile) now I'm being "politically correct."

    Stacey,

What I remember about the biker incident was that Breeze and I were upstairs in the Cole Street House looking down at you and the biker dude (I thought I saw Hell's Angels colors) in the Oak Street House dining room (the "OM" room) having a meeting of the minds. My instructions were to watch your back and take the appropriate action if some foul play came into play (if you know what I mean). You carried the day and nothing bad happened. I always wondered what I would have done if things turned out differently.

    Hey Steven,

You? Noisy? Surely you jest. Hey my brother, I am flying above the stratosphere with happiness and joy to know you're still walkin' around on Terra Firma. Do you remember the last time we hung out together? I certainly do! I don't remember the exact date but you were scheduled to register as a guest of the authorities at 4:00 p.m. I came over and we watched I think, cartoons (?). Hardly a word was said between us but that 3 hours was what Good Earth philosophy was all about. Support without skepticism or doubt. Three of the most spiritual hours or my life. And our bond that had already been solidified through the years was only made stronger. I regret we didn't stay in touch but then again, back in the day one didn't subject one's self to incrimination. Protect your family, protect yourself. We were so under the gun. People often ask me why we couldn't survive in the entity that we were and I always tell them of the economics. Guilty of crime or not costs a lot of money and the man was fully aware of the strategy of harassment. Doesn't matter if those dirty hippies are guilty or not, it costs them so much in legal fees that we can break them down. And indeed they did. I love you, Steve. Always have, always will.

Hey, do you also remember another moment that came years before when I asked you if I could move the GE revenue generation from Upper Cole to another location? It was on the behalf of the young mothers as they feared for their safety. You got really mad at me and went on a classic Spacey rant and told me I was being ungrateful. At the end of the rant you ask me if I had anything to say. I looked up at you and said, "I was only asking a question." You were so steamed and I had such a puppy dog look that you glared a moment then turned away and stormed out. Hilarious in retrospect. Anyway, I am so so happy that you're here.

    Steven,
I think you were just more visable then most. You were in and out of the houses, checking on everyone, making sure we all had what we needed. You conciled ones that needed input, you interviened when trouble arose. You got me out of a scrape with BJ concerning a certain Butterfly knife I cut Ed Crummy with in a bar fight.

You felt I was within my rights to protect myself when I was threatened and returned my blade to me. I felt that you handled that reaaly well, as I WAS being threatened and already been hit once. I pulled my blade just as he went to strike me again, and cut his arm.

He was Debbie Donut's ole man n she thought I was hitting on him?!? It was a missunderstanding and it turned out I was just drunk trying to wade through the dance floor to get to the bathroom. I accidently stumbled into Ed and grabed him so I wouldn't fall. Debbie seen me n thought it was comin' on to him. When I came out of the BR I found a seat at the bar and ordered a beer. BJ brought it and I was just sipping on it and Debbie came overe and pushed me outta the barstool.

She hollered that was her seat and I pushed her back the Ed slapped me, that's when I pulled the knife. I really didnt know what was going down. Funny thing tho, a couple of yrs later Ed and I became friends and stayed with me n Carl for a while. He still had the scar.

That is just one of the things you did for us Steven. I appreciated you. and I am so glad you made it.

    Bright Blessings

I see that you were asking about Jerry and I was wondering if you know what had really happened. Sam, the older (he was 38) black dude who lived next door to the Oak Street house had been selling a mix of mescaline and coke. Jane, my old lady at the time, and I bought a half gram from him on a Tuesday night. It was a very enjoyable trip. Very mellow and had a nice finish. Two nights later, she and I go over to his house to cop some more. He brings out what looked like the same stuff and Jane and I split it. He had this weird-assed smile on his face. I remember taking about four steps toward the front door when suddenly I felt very strange. I said out loud, "Oh God". I knew something wasn't right. Damn straight something wasn't right. On the same night he sold it to Mouseman, Aries Marian, Jerry, Xiomara, and I'm not sure about anyone else. Turned out to be pure uncut LSD he stole from a Berkeley lab. That's like 1000 hits per person. Mouse, Jane, Xiomara, and I came through it okay but I am sure none of us have ever been the same since. I know I haven't. Marian was found walking naked along Haight Street carrying a loaded shotgun. She ended up in a psych ward and was never heard from after that. Jerry was found sitting naked in a lotus position in the fountain on JFK Drive in GGP. He literally left his mortal coil, flew away. After realizing what Sam had done I called a family meeting and he was summarily banished for life. Now that I think about it he got off pretty easy for what he did. It was tantamount to manslaughter if not 2nd degree murder. Jerry was such an enlightened soul, too. Glad to hear life's been good to ya.

    Hey Spud,

Remember when we busted Ray with the drunk teenage boy upstairs in one of the beds in the garage at the Hole In The Wall? He had lost his dog, Bosco, and Ray told us he was 'helping' the kid find his dog. Yeah, right. Bosco, indeed! That kid had no idea how close he came to having his life ruined by Ray. I shudder to think what would have happened had we gotten there even 30 seconds later than we did. The kid was so drunk that he probably has no recall of that night, or at least I hope so.
