So I have been going out with my girlfriend for almost 5 years now. The first 2 years we dated she was not on the pill which was fine with me. After that she started taking the pill and I noticed that she was not as horny as she used to be. Like she doesnt really have a desire for sex. We have sex like once a month which is not enough for me. I would be happy with once a week.

I think that her pill that she has been taking for the past 3 years is really affecting our sex life. Any suggestions on pills that may not have this affect on her? I hear that some brands have different affects then others. and there is a pill that makes you want to have more sex.

    help!!
    Thanks!!!

ALL hormonal-based birth control (Mirena IUDs, pills, rings) can and have a very good chance to negatively affect, and sometimes completely destroy, a woman's libido.

That's on top of other wonderful side effects such as rapid and noticeable weight gain, mood swings and changes in the cycle.

Some people have good results with the copper IUD, though it may cause a woman to bleed more heavily during the period, to the point of menhorragia and ensuing anemia.

And in general, instead of putting the burden of birth control on the woman, why don't YOU take care of it, buddy? If you don't want kids and can't handle condoms, snip-snip. The world could use one less sperm dispenser.

She can also ask her dr for a pill that has a lower dose of hormones or a diff type of hormone. I just started the reg ortho pill in Feb and since then I had zero sex drive Id really have to just make myself have sex because I felt bad for the bf plus i noticed it took a lot more to get me and keep me lubricated. So I told my dr and he switched me a low dose pill called Aviane, I start it on Sunday so lets see how it works I hope it does because I miss wanting and craving sex.
