Last night my boyfriend and I came to conclusion that our house is haunted or at least has a spirit living inside. We've had minor stuff happen, nothing too major but we're curious about it. I don't know the history of this house but I know people were living here in the 60's-70's. We do live across the street from a cemetery. I never thought your house could become haunted because you live next to a cemetery unless people have died there in the past. For example, older cemeteries with a history tend to have spirits left behind. Our cemetery is the oldest in town with some graves dating back to the late 1800's. But there was never any tragic event taking place there or any history. Also if my house was haunted, wouldn't all the other houses by me be haunted too? I'm just asking if anyone thinks a house could become haunted because a cemetery lives by it or not. What do you think?

Weird things that have happened at my house:

    1) Our biggest thing is doors opening by themselves. They don't ever slam shut like you see in movies. They just randomly open when they were latched shut. Plus they swing right open. They don't just crack open, its more like you can hear the door unlatch and then it swings wide open just as if someone casually opens a door and walks into a room.

This happened twice in the past 7 days. My boyfriend was in bed with the door closed. I was across the hall and on my laptop. I heard the door and it sounded like my boyfriend was opening the door. I expected my boyfriend to walk out when it swung open but instead our small dog just walks out of the room. I peek into the room and realize my bf is still sleeping so I close the door. That was a week ago but then last night it happened again. My boyfriend went to bed and closed the door. I had a girl friend over and she was sitting in the living room. I walked past his door and into the bathroom but I noticed the door was closed. I was in the bathroom for less than 10 seconds and when I walked out I noticed the door was wide open. I walk in and my bf is still in bed and asks me if I could close the door. My friend saw the whole thing. She said the door randomly opened by itself. My boyfriend had the same story. He said the door opened and saw our friend sitting across the room looking back at him looking confused. So 3 people experienced this together and have the same story. Other things that happened is the freezer door randomly opening a couple times.

    2) Another thing is sounds of knocking. I've been on the bed and have heard knocking on the wall. As if someone was knocking on the front door. We always used to think it was a neighbor kids playing a prank but I highly doubt that then we realized that it sounded more like someone knocking on the inside of the wall in the house and not on the outside of the house. We also heard it in the kitchen really loud one night. The sound of loud knocking on the walls but didn't think anything of it at the time.

    3) Our dog sometimes acts weird. Sometimes he hides out under this desk all day and won't come out. He seems uneasy once in awhile, especially lately. He was never like that before. He also barks at absolutely nothing. There will be no noise and he will start barking at things. He has never been that way at any other house.

    4) Malfunctioning electronics and electrical equipment. I recently read that this is a sign there may be a ghost. First of all, my bf is a computer tech. He is pretty much a computer genius and his computer randomly turns off at random times without explanation. He says everything on his laptop is fine and he's checked it out. There is no reason for it to do that. Also we were working one night in the spare room. There is a desktop computer in there. It was just a weird occurrence, may not have anything to do with ghosts but we noticed that if my bf stands in one spot on that room (it only happened one night), the monitor would turn off. When he moved from that spot, the monitor would turn back on. He says that can't happen at all. He's been working in computers for 10 years at least and has never heard or seen that before and thought there is something under the carpet thats doing that but that doesn't make sense either.

    5) Nightmares!!! I don't get nightmares often. He gets them often. One night we both had a nightmare that made us both wake up at the same time. I dreamed that some people broke into the house and stabbed me. That same time he was having a nightmare that someone was stabbing his sister. He always seems to have dreams that people are breaking into the house and wakes up startled. I rarely ever have nightmares but when I had that nightmare I got out of bed and felt like something was in the house. I also heard light knocking and tapping on the wall after waking up. That particular night (about 3 months ago) we really felt spooked about something unexplainable. But we really don't sense a negative presence. We just feel maybe an old man once past away in the house or its nothing evil.

This is all the stuff that happened. We don't ever see stuff or hear footsteps, violent banging, voices and we never really get goosebumps and sense something is in the room. I thought I could sense ghosts in the past cause sometimes I think I'm being watched when no one is around but I never got that feeling here. If its anything, I highly doubt that its anything evil but I just don't know. Thanks for listening and please just give me your opinion about my question in the first paragraph with the cemetery. Thanks.:p

You HAVE to leave the house or your spirit will be haunted by the ghost forever wherever you go.

You should look up feng shui and the placement of a house directly across from a cemetary...
This should be avoided!!! (unless you want to live in a haunted house)...there are certain things you can do (to your envoronment) to stop or hinder the "flow of traffic" from across the road - but; in all reality you need to get OUT of that house - and pretty much don't ever live across the road from a cemetary.
I know that I personally wouldn't live in a free mcmansion if it were across the road from a cemetary.
I sincerely wish you luck with this...do not doubt what you AND others witness AND the fact that your dog has exhibited such strange behavior. The dog's actions alone should tell you something.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it does something beyond what you have seen so far. I lived in a historic home across from a cemetery and a man committed suicide in that house many years before I lived there...the knocking and the doors opening was as bad as it ever got.

The movie The Amityville Horror wasn’t so much a story of ghosts as much as it was a story of economic hardship. When blood comes out of the sink its $35 dollars an hour to hire a plumber, when bees nest in the attic it’s another $100 dollars to fumigate, and when the front door explodes it’s another $200 dollars in repair bills for a family that could barely afford the mortgage.

I suggest you GET OUT now while the gettins’ good before the spirits or poltergeists send you straight to the poorhouse

Why is everyone saying I should get out of the house while I still can? Within the past few weeks its been getting weirder and weirder but I've always been told ghosts are something not to worry about unless its a poltergeist with evil intentions. I believe something is in my house. I don't believe I'm living in some house of horrors. Blood isn't going to leak out of the faucets and I'm not going to see any religious symbols flip upside down (all I have are Buddha statues but I'm not really a Buddhist). Its just minor stuff that happens but lately there has been more of it. You guys all say I need to move asap. But why? Is it because I live outside of the cemetery? Is it because spirits travel in and out of my house from some portal to the other side because of the cemetery? Good thing I didn't buy a Ouija board I saw at a garage sale a few weeks ago. I was going to take it home and see what all the hype was about. Good thing I didn't mess around with one of those.

Definitely get a ouija board. Try to contact the stabbers and the door openers and the deceased IT technicians. Eventually once you build up a good enough relationship you can get them all paying rent.

    don't use a ouija board
    don't move
    don't be afraid

just try and talk to them, tell them they're scaring you guys and to lay off a bit...

you could always get a priest or a shaman or some nutty "medium" to cleanse the house, but why?!

you can do it yourself, do some research, a solution isnt really that far off.

I can cleanse my own house. I've done it once before years ago.
