I am pretty sheltered in my little jungle world.

As a businessman I am well aware that my sales are down a significantly amount. I am still making good money but I am about $50,000 behind last year.

Even at that I cannot complain because the money is still coming in and I have reserves of cash so I can go without any profits for many years.

Anyway is the economy effecting you in a major way?

Do you have a job or income coming in?

If you have been laid of or are unemployed how long have you been looking for work?

Are you having to make sacrifices to make ends meet?

Thanks for answering the questions. I want to know what it is like out there.

Not much because I don't spend a lot of money or have many expenses. I don't have any debt, either.

Not a whole lot. Groceries still are roundabout the same price, gas prices really haven't fluctuated all that much, my hours at work are starting to increase...Things at my house are probably going to get tight soon, but it won't be because of the economy as much as it will be that our roommate is thinking about moving. Well, I take that back, because the shitty economy is making it a little hard for Daniel to find a job. But I'm not really worried much, we'll survive, we always do.

My company laid a bunch of people off and I got rolled back from the job I had been doing for the past 31 years. I'm now making about $3.00 less an hour than I was. Less overtime too.

not me in particular, but it affected my dad last year and up to a few months ago.. his business lost clients.. people wouldn't pay.. we were refused loans.. credit cards taken away.. had to sell a lot of shit.. to eat.. had to give my last summer's salary to them.. things seem to have gone back to normal, now, though.

and btw that was the reason why I couldn't go back to school last Fall, too, and almost didn't make it to last Spring, and got extremely lucky my uncle helped.. cause forget getting the money from work, or banks..

I wanna add it was extremely sad to see my mom having to sell a TV for less than half of what it was worth just to be able to put a little gas in the car, or to buy meds for my dying dog

I'm just thankful I didn't end up graduating when I was supposed to.. which was May 2008. How hard would it have been to find a job - being foreign too - then - and I'm hoping for the situation to not be as bad by next summer..

all the rich people have less ass-wiping money, which is hardly a sacrifice. we could all do with less.

and where im from all the poor people are now much much poorer

since im not looking for a job and don't have any investments is isn't affecting me at all.
i don't think we have been hit as hard down here in this country anyway. my parents lost some money but not enough to make a difference to anything.

My furniture orders are about 50% down from last year and the place where I get my wood is almost out of business, but I'm still working.

I just find it harder to close sales. Just need to be more smart about my spending.
