The meaning of "cool"

What does "cool" mean nowadays? Is it still "cool" for guys to be wannabe rappers as they try to get all the chicks? Is it still "cool" for chicks to wear nothing but Aeropostale and those other ugly ass clothes and listen to Ashlee Simpson and Britney Spears and all that other shit that somehow is believed to be music?


I haven't really hung out with people since May, and that's how I remember many kids being last year in school

What is it now? And why does the meaning change so often?

 

OK, at my school you have 5 groups of guys, volleyball players, football players, punks, wiggers, and normal people...

No one like the football players really.....

The girls are mostle either punks, tramps, eople who listen to 70's music like sabbath and zepplin, and those qho just are normal as well....

I am one of the normal peapopl....

 

But what exactly is "normal"?

 

And what exactly is a "peapopl"

 

Hmmm...in my school, well...there ain't many groups
the "caille"s : they listen to rap, rnb, and ra•, and they've got their own style of clothing..
Punks, goths, and other stereotyped ppl who like rock, all together!
And lots of different people! But everyone talks to everyone! One of my best friend is a caille, the other, a goth, the other is a bit snob etc......

In my school, to be cool, you've got to have your style and stay true to yourself, you can't bitch at other people if not you're dead

i guess the definition of coolness was and still is anti-conformism. once what u listen to or dress like becomes a trend, u're not cool anymore.
oh and thinkin u're cool makes u the opposite of cool.

but, that makes no sense! in my world, anyway....whenever i go out i see people all dressing the same, then i turn on the tv and mtv promotes all those clothes and styles and what not....and nowadays it seems that all that shitty pop "music" is the "cool" thing to listen to...wouldnt you have to conform yourself to all that in order to be "cool"(in the world's eyes)?

I remember back in the day when it was cool to wear puffy socks and tightroll your pants and wear some LA gears...ahhhh, those were the days...

I think cool is more of an attitude then a style, I dont ever think people look cool, they look more badass then cool, now the attitude, the attitude is what makes you cool..haha, like James Dean..Of course he had that look, but his attitude, his attitude is what made him that cool rebel he was ...hehe sorry ramblin away

 

By normal i meant just people, people who don't fit into a catergory...not wearing all black with spiky hair looking like everyone else and saying your different.......not being a slut and showing the whole world your t-bar and almost having your boobs fall out of your shirt, just what normal people wear.......


"peapopl" is a local term for those who do not fit in a catergory or do not want to beleong to a catergory.....acctually im just makin this up, i just can't type.......One thing good about my school is that we have some Freaks in the hippie sense of the word...

So, your saying that during the hippie movement, the only way to be cool was to conform with the government, instead of your fellows?
