Columbia, Missouri voted on and passed a resolution decriminalizing simple possession. This same resolution approved the use of medical marijuana. This victory in the heart of the "Bible Belt" is a major boost for pro-marijuana activist. Yeah one for our side.
Wow! So basicly you can smoke marijuana in missouri now? So say I lived in st lousid, I could sit on my front porch and pull out a joint, cop walks by, nothing happens?
mabus, uhhh lol no, nice try lol not legally, but it is decriminalized, IE less punishment for possession ppl misoncieve what the term actually means, it does mean legal so is this for real ?? just for that city, or for entire state ? news article ? hell yeah! is this as good as it sounds ??
I know it doesnt mean legal. Its not even less punishment usually, it means you are allowed to possess small amounts. Marijuana being legal would mean you could have a tractor trailor of 2000 lbs and that be ok.
well asked if it were legal, if you knew what decriminalized means then you would already have your answer lol im really curious to know if this is city or state level good luck
Ok I just found this, http://www.mpp.org/MO/news_3815.html Its not even really decriminalized. You still get fined and fined up to large amounts, you still go to court, blah blah blah. Its still a step forward but I dont think its really decriminalized. You most likely just wont get it put on your record.
Deep Fried can you please post the original article you got this from? That's close enough to being 'south' we could use it in our presentation.
Well, Its a step. Bout time people realized that it doesn't deserve such harsh punishment... hopefully other places will catch on and the Feds wont fuck it all up....
hopefully....... ! heres the story from one source i just read: COLUMBIA, Mo. Possession of small amounts of marijuana would be decriminalized in Columbia, and medical use of the drug would be legal under two propositions voters approved -- handily -- yesterday. Almost 70 percent of voters approved Proposition One, which allows medical use of marijuana if authorized by a physician. The new law says that if the prohibition on arrest, prosecution and punishment is deemed invalid, the maximum penalty for such medical use of the drug would be only a fine of 50 dollars. A second proposition makes enforcement of laws against marijuana use the lowest law enforcement priority. It says adults cannot be arrested for possessing less than 35 grams of marijuana. The maximum fine for possessing small amounts of pot would be 250 dollars. Copyright 2004 Associated Press. All rights reserved. small amount is decriminalized in minnesota up to 42.5g, meaning you will serve no jail time, but will have to pay a traffic ticket size fine, and do possible drug education classes
Thats the same thing in pennsylvania too. If you want to call that decriminalized then practicly every place in the US is decriminalized. From my understanding in canada you can walk to a park and smoke a blunt and no one puts up a fuss and you dont get fines. In pennsylvania I believe you can have an ounce and its just like a 150 dollar fine, it goes up gradually the more times you get busted though.
Marijuana has also recently been decriminalized in Carbondale, IL (Southern Illinois) and Mayor Daley is considering doing it in Chicago too.
does anyone know about new york? i know people that have gotten caught, and the cop will just send them home, or take the weed, and send them home.
Man,i wish iowa would do that.too late for me thou, next month i go to jail for 5 days for possetion of under 1 gram of weed.(it was in my one hitter.thats right,5 days for one hit..fight the power.peace frog
Way to go Missouri! There are cops here that take you to jail for one roach and search for more as policy. I feel for you woodenfrog. I guess you've already been convicted...i thought maybe your attorney could use the standing from other states to argue against your sentence. That seems insane to be punished so harshly for one hit. Good Luck to you!
in my neck of NY, the cops usually just make you take the weed and stomp on it so it's unsmokable, then they give you a ticket and let you go. none of the incidents have been serious but i attribute that to the small town mentality where everybody knew everybody. to me, it never really seemed like weed was illegal. me and my buddies smoked when we wanted, where we wanted, and never got caught. but we weren't stupid.
